There's no way that would've happened. The salaries don't even match up for one. LA would've had to throw a lot more into that trade.
Trade exception like Mitch Kupchak did - and you got it. I would have pulled the trigger for that one not that I think Carmelo is all that great, but he still would be a huge upgrade from Rivers

What trade exception? Where has this one-for-one trade been reported? No one is dumb enough to not pull that trigger if you can get Melo for Austin Rivers.

That article mentions that Rivers would've been part of a package for Melo.

Phil ain't giving up Melo for Austin Rivers straight up. Dolan would fire his ass and Phil wouldn't make it out of NY alive.

If you ask me, this Utah Jazz team wants the win more. Their owner must have promised the guys an extra wife for another win.

To escape the curse they need to go to Seattle or San Diego

I think Anaheim is the ideal place for them.

Seattle could work too, but not SD....it's not really an NBA town, judging by their history (they were already there once) and the research the league did on that a few yrs ago.

Hayward is a goon.

I want the Jazz to finish this off so badly. They present the most match-up problems against the Warriors. Especially in the paint.

I can't believe the bad luck the Clippers have had year after year.

They had a great chance at that, but in typical Clippers fashion, they fucked it up. Back when the Arrowhead Pond (now the Honda Center) was first built, the Clips used to play a few games per season there. They were always well attended (usually sellouts or close to it).

At the time, the Clippers were playing in the LA Sports Arena, which was a dump. Their games were so poorly attended, you could buy the cheapest tickets and still practically sit courtside. There were literally no lines at concession stands.

Angel Stadium is walking distance from The Pond. They literally could have been part of a Sports and Entertainment area in which there were NFL (the Rams were still in Anaheim), MLB, NHL and NBA teams, restaurants and a state of the art movie theater all within walking distance of each other. They could have owned Orange County and charged Lakers level prices for their tickets because there's a lot of money in OC.

Instead, they chose to stay in LA, go to the Staples Center and be the Lakers little brother.

I know all about it, bro...I used to live in LA back in the day. Fortunately their current owner seems like a guy who could get things done to benefit his team, and would be able to get the PTB in OC to listen should that dialogue ever reopen. It has the potential for being a great move for all parties concerned, imho.

Oh, didn't know you were out here back then. Yeah, Ballmer has said he won't move the team to Seattle, but I think he'd be smart to reconsider Anaheim. Although he'd probably want to do some renovating of the Honda Center. It's still a nice arena, but it's old by today's standards.

He doesn't seem like a guy who'd be satisfied with playing 2nd fiddle, so I could see him exploring other possibilities.
