Well I understand why he is doing. Just is very worrying having your franchise player playing over there. Look at what happened to elias and hell even the lokohmotive team (however you spell it)

I don't like this. Besides the chance of him getting injured, I think he will be expected to carry the offense even more this season without Parise (if they play).
They say he played with injured back in the playoffs, but I think he ran out of gas too.
I would stay put in NJ. Of course he can train and skate, but if the season starts late, he should be fresh towards the end.

When the lockout ends, he will come back from Russia, deal with the jet lag, different schedules and rules, different style of play, food, etc.
Hopefully this doesn't backfire in any way.

It's smart on kovys part he still gets paid but man its a serious risk for him. If something bad happens to him (god forbid) will that not void his contract?

I could be wrong but since there's no NHL thus lockout, wouldn't all contracts be voided/suspended.

Technically, he's on no contract with the Devils or the NHL. So he wouldn't be breaking any contractual agreements since there's no contract to breach.

Again i could be off base.

I saw that too but I think its all talk. I dont think a lockout or a rollback is going to change anything. Would you rather spend a winter in Russia or in America?

Yeah, worries me that someone like Kovy gets hurt. I saw Malkin got destroyed his first game on a low hit to the legs.

just stupid why risk your career? if players who make a lot less then you can tighten their belts and hang on til the season starts im sure the top 2% of the nhl can also.

I think players who temporarily playing in Europe during lockout doing the right thing. It shows to NHL it stupidity of bringing the league to lockout. Real players want to play hockey and make some money of it, while they are not getting paid for not playing because of this stupid lockout. We want to watch our team playing. What these negotiation talks expected to be - just meet and leave. It's how it looks like. Shame on NHL - unfortunately to say it.

I know general sentiment in the US is to say "eff the man" but we've all been witness to our own teams financial struggles. I guess it's on the fan base that we're not selling out every game, but we just lost our captain because we couldn't muster up $25M cash.
