- I never really thought about leaving NHL for KHL. Yes, I was going over what would be acceptable for me in Russia, but I'm glad how it all ended - said Kovalchuk after signing 15-year contract with Devils
- I don't regret refusing the offer from Atlanta. I'm always looking forward. You can't live in past, you live today. Now I play for the perennial Cup contender. It's what I always wanted.

On a side note, friendly between team Kovalchuk and team Ovechkin in Moscow on 9/5 ended 13:13
Proceeds from the game ($13.9 mln rubles) will go to children victims of recent forest fires.
Kovalchuk scored 3, Ovechkin, Fetisov, Kozlov (not sure which one) - 2 each.
Malkin and Zherdev - 1 each. The rest was scored, well, by the rest.

except that your salary means that the team needs to shed some assets that made it a contender in the first place, and Brodeur will probably retire 2 years into your 15 year deal. :p
