Are you fucking high?

All of the families had yet to be notified.

But, hey...

As long as they got the scoop first, it's all to the good.

One of the most insensitive posters on this board

Come on, Dude.

This is not some fuck finding out he got traded thru social media.

These people are DEAD.

They had mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers.

That is a fucking disgusting way to find out.

I'm willing to bet your attitude would be less cavalier if it were Steph and Riley.

Or worse, your wife and children.
Jesus Christ I know why people are losing their minds today but sheesh.

If someone famous dies it's getting reported.

And I don't care how I find out a loved one dies, I will grieve the same

Echoing most of the comments on here, very sad to hear this. Even more so when I heard his daughter was on board. Not that 41 is a good time but 13??

Stop being a dick. He’s still a person with a family.

If George Bush goes down in a plane crash tomorrow, it's getting reported.

I'm not being a dick. This news sucks. It's awful for him and all the other families by the way

It just surprises me how naive some people are.

I mean last night was all about Kobe & LeBron & a Bromance & Love-Fest! It went from feel-good story going to bed & waking up to tragedy! Literally a police officer called my family over to the squad suv at a Vietnamese parade and told us, “Kobe Bryant just died,” and we all started crying on the spot! Yes, it became embarrassing but everyone was crying! Vietnamese people, Mexicans, Blacks, the police officers... (I saw The Irishman & when Kennedy died it was like that, same thing, Men, women, & children & mobsters & Union toughs cried).

Now will they talk about it at Grammys all night? That’s a bummer! Like every award all night?!

Also why didn’t they cancel NBA games? Can always reschedule.

They didn't cancel games when the President was killed. They aren't going to cancel games. Plus, I would like to think the League and the teams playing today wanted to use the games as a tribute

Best guess would be because they all know that is the last thing Kobe would have wanted.

This sounds good and all but the reason is life and the money train go on. Just how it is in most all walks of life.

I don't normally hang on the b-ball threads but this warrants a visit. The man was a legend and from what I hear, a darned nice dude. It's shitty and fucked up that he and his daughter are gone. That shit is NOT fair. RIP Kobe and Gianna. Gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before your time.

If Joe Blow goes down in a plane crash tomorrow, its getting reported. Perhaps not globally like today

Yes but my point was that if someone famous (especially megafamous like Kobe) dies in some sudden way like this, it's getting reported immediately. They aren't calling Bush's family first.

With Joe Blow, it's different. It's not news.

eventually yes

As soon as any reporter gets the news someone megafamous has died suddenly, they are reporting it. This is plain common sense.

Listen, I'm just going to end the conversation with you now so that I don't have to tell you what a insensitive piece of asbestos covered dog shit you are being.

Because, like you bringing up his r*pe case, just hours after his death, that would be in poor taste.

* mute*

It's the intersection of how things should be and how things are.

In a situation like this...Should the media wait until the family is notified before they report it? Absolutely.

Do they? Unfortunately, not always.

Never. Never for someone famous.

It's likely they would have just rescheduled the games. But yeah, not cancelling them wasn't entirely about Kobe.
