Cuban proposes 30 team playoff.
That would include the New York Knicks.

That’s the funniest thing I have ever heard.

Only way the Knicks will make it!

Cuban is smart though. He recognizes that the more teams and the shorter the series, the better chance the Mavericks have of getting deep.

They aren’t getting out of the first round in a traditional format.

If ....the knicks do get in, they will end up on wrong plane, wrong city, wrong time, wrong arena, wrong day.

That would be impressive.

At least if they get the day wrong too they might have an opportunity to correct their error.

Restarting after like 4 months makes it practically a new season. Why not open up the championship to all 30 teams again and bring the Warriors and Knicks back into contention!!! Yes!!!

Get rid of James Dolan immediately, how do you lose your long time fan, Spike Lee?

Also its a disgrace to kick out Knicks legends

Build around RJ and Knox, draft Ball if you get the chance

May not start or end well but I don’t see how this is anything but a good thing for the Knicks.

So it will start and end bad, but is a good thing. You must expect success in the middle...based on..? The abundance of developed talent he will eventually grind into his mold with defense being at a premium in the current NBA?

What has he won?

He has won a lot of games. Also has a ring with the Celtics as a top assistant.

You don’t have to be a champion to be a winner. He really only had a small window with the Bulls before injuries crushed D Rose.

Here's the thing with Thibs.

His record would seem to indicate that he's a good coach. His issue seems to be overusing his best players and wearing them down.

If not for Lebron, he may well have gotten a couple of those Bulls teams to the finals.

However, there are also legit concerns that the game may have passed him by and/or that he can't coach a team to a title.

For the Knicks, it doesn't matter whether he can win a title or not. They're a loooong way from that.

Right now, they just need a coach who has some credibility and can maybe bring some stability to the franchise.

I'm actually surprised that the Knicks were able to get a coach of Thibs caliber. If Dolan can stay the hell out of the way, this could be the first step in the Knicks finally being relevant again.

And as a great defensive coach, a top assistant is where he should be. He is the best coach the Knicks have had in a while and they likely will win more games (not really a hard task), BUT I think he is a poor fit for where the Knicks are at. Thibs can do alright with developed talent and a defensive focus, but that is not where the Knicks or the NBA is right now.

We shall see.

Truth be told, I am really not sure who would be a good fit for a team like the Knicks.

First step is to flip the culture. I believe Thibs has a chance to do that. But, there is also a chance he loses the team before that happens.

Imo, Thibs will likely be similar to Mark Jackson with the Warriors.

If Dolan stays out of his way, the team is young enough that they probably won't push back on Thibs too much. Plus, Taj Gibson has played for Thibs. So he may help as well.

So, like Jackson, Thibs should be able to improve their culture, maybe even eventually get them to the playoffs (especially if the East remains weak). But I doubt he's around long enough to see any finals runs.
