Knicks need to find a way to swap KAT for KD

We are seeing in these playoffs (which is what matters) that KAT and Brunson aren’t a great fit. Last night when KAT went off in the 4th it was with Brunson on the bench for a lot of it. They are both bad defenders so good teams exploit that when they are out there together. KAT needs the ball in his hands a fair amount too. The Knicks lack 3 point skill as well.

KD fixes much of that. He can shoot the 3, he can get you as many points as KAT, he’s a better defender, has similar length, can play off the ball most of the time, has a higher basketball IQ, etc.

Don’t know if they can directly be swapped or another team would be involved but this seems like a reasonable and doable improvement.

Thoughts?

They would be replacing one forward with a better one dude. KD > KAT on the Knicks with Brunson

Yes it does matter and the Knicks have locked down when needed. Last night was another example as they held Indy to 42 points in the 2nd half

Yes because the right move after getting the franchise the furthest they gotten in nearly 30 years is to trade for a 37 year old who is way more ball dominant than KAT yep that totally makes sense. This series is far from over and they can still win this series and get to the finals

But if the Knicks lose to the Pacers because of Townes/Brunson defense issues?

Or if they beat the pacers and get anhilated in the Finals for the same reason?

You don’t blowup a team for a 37 year old when this group got the franchise plays they haven’t been this century. Also this thread after KAT is the only reason they didn’t wake up down 3-0 is poor timing to say the least. You can actually make a case that if thibs left KAT in the game or brought him back earlier in game 2, they win that game and is up in this series

Feels like if the Bucks do move on from Giannis they will want picks and young assets to rebuild not 30 year olds who won't get them any nearer a title.

But yeah if the Knicks can get Giannis with Brunson and Bridges and Hart that's a real contender probably
