Nate Clouse of Husker Online reported Tuesday evening that freshman wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is not part of the Nebraska football program at this time.

The report said Johnson Jr. will be taking "somewhat of leave of absence" from the team with the opportunity to return in January if certain requirements are met. The report didn't know the exact conditions for return, but that the "door is open" for that possibility.

A later update from Clouse said that Johnson Jr. is already back in Los Angeles.

Johnson Jr. was cited for possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia earlier this month.

Damn! Sorry to hear it but don't take your slot for granted if you're a wide receiver and wide receivers are being shit out at every morning constitutional.

So I heard it's Senior that took him out of college. So he can return when his dad says so. Good thing is summer I bet his dad is sweating the shit out of that kid with drills and what have you.

Not if Dad's making the sauce. He's seeing more than the weed. He's seeing his kid isn't taking it serious enough to break past the average.

"We're all on board with the decision that has been made," Keyshawn Johnson Sr. said. "I look forward to him coming back in January, and hopefully he comes back as a mature young adult. Mike Riley and coach Keith Williams and the staff let him know this is not a big party. I'm full support with Mike Riley and his decisions. I support him 100 percent. One thing you will not do as my son is you will not embarrass Nebraska, you will not embarrass Mike Riley and you will not embarrass this family. If you mature and you're ready to resume your football career and academic goals, then Nebraska will be ready to embrace you ... If he does everything he's supposed to do, he can join the football program again and become successful."

I agree with Keyshawn Johnson, Sr.

I told my kids, if you can't pull a 3.0 at the glorified high schools you are going to(their public universities) Mom and I will pull you out. You will either join the Military or go to a Community College.

If they would have gone to where Mom and Dad went, or a school like it, then I would have lowered the GPA to 2.0.

So far, they have both received at least 3.0s or better.

Dad putting his son on blast.

KJJ never past the eyeball test with me anyway. I'm on record as saying that. Whether from a physicality standpoint or just a want to stand point. I had a gut feeling that the kid was more flash than substance. Loved the attention but not willing to put in the work and walk the line.

Regardless, he's an 18 year old kid. Hope he gets it figured out, whatever that means.

“You’ve watched — on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter — everything’s a big party,” Johnson Sr. said. “You just want to get to college to party, but you don’t understand: You’re playing college football. It’s a business. And it’s a serious business. If you want to become successful — make it to the NFL — you’ve got to embrace it. You’ve got to own it. You don’t make it to the next level by cruising. There’s no cruise control."

-KJ Sr.

Parenting done right.

There has been a few players like that over the years who could have used someone like Sr to put them in check. One of which embarrasses the school, and his NFL team, once or twice every season so far.
