OK, I agree with you that Kirk could do much more with it, but so could a bunch of guys. Kirk doesn't own the patent on competence or to play it the way others feel about him a patent on damn near superstardom in this offense.

Imagine Kirk being resigned, maybe he goes on to win a SB or two, retires and Gruden looking for that replacement. I'll bet 10 Billion dollars, at that time Gruden won't fold his tent and say as too many here are doing, "well without Kirk, I'm finished."

No he wouldn't. I wouldn't either. We'd just be on the hunt again for another. The point is though if we resign Kirk there doesnt need to be a hunt

Spin away Dean.

Fact.. you dont draft a QB at #2 unless you believe said QB is an ELITE QB, not Franchise, not might be ok in 3-4 years... thats ELITE level.

Fact.. while he wasnt a day one starter, he was still drafted under the assumption that he was an elite prospect.

Fact... while i have no proof that we will take a step back without Cousins, I do know that with RG3 and Colt McCoy, our offense was much less productive. Which bitch slaps your idea that any one could come in and do what Cousins has done in this offense.

Fact... a fair offer has never been made, so why assume that Bruce will make one now. And as Kirk will get a fair offer from more than just Washington, it aint about the money, it would be a fuck you Bruce, You had your chance and I simply dont want to work for you. But I realize saying he was greedy would make you feel better than admitting Bruce drove out a franchise QB and you cheered him on in the effort.
The first bit is not true. How many elite qbs are there in the league? Five? And how many qbs are taken in the top ten each year?? Do you think each and every one of those teams thinks they're getting a hall of famer?

I think that ship left port two seasons ago, at best they try to tag him again and it had better be the Non exclusive tag at that. Depending upon which tag Kirk and his reps want to start with, the asking base salary is either going to be 28 or 34 million dollars.

They weren't willing to give him a base of 20m one year and 24m the next so I'm totally convinced that 28 or 34 are also off the table. In fact, there's NO table. Love your optimism though!!:thumb:

Colt has shown my work in plenty of NFL games hes played in and same for Kirk

Are you talking the entirety of Colt's pro career or just his Redskins tenure? Me, I'm talking strictly his Redskins tenure.

Seriously, how do you feel about kirk? Should he be signed to the richest deal in the NFL?

I like Kirk and I'd like the Skins to resign him. I've said along this year that he isn't close to our biggest issue. He does have issues though that some seem to want to dismiss or gloss over and at some point in a few games came up small or not at all this year.

Be that as it may. Yeah, I'd offer Kirk a contract that was in line with today's salary for starting, legitimate NFL QBs of which I believe he's in that club. Or put another. I'd offer him the highest salary ever paid in the history of the NFL.

And he would be the highest paid player in the NFL.. for about a month until Rogers or another of the QBs gets their deal eclipsing what Cousins got.

At the end of the day this comes down to one man being able to swallow his pride and do what it takes to get a deal done, and that man aint Cousins, Cousins agent, Gruden, or Snyder.

I think Snyder is like every CEO. Cousins wasnt his choice. But if Cousins can get it done, Dan has no issue paying him. I think unlike the last QB whom Dan was in love with, Kirk is a take it or leave it and he is leaving the call up to Bruce at this point. Now if Bruce decides we need to move on, You can bet your ass Dan will be on every scouting trip so he can bless what ever move we make if we ARE going to draft a QB.

Perspective | Kirk Cousins showed his heart in loss at Dallas. Remember that when he’s gone.

OMG - forget the article - the comments that accompany this article show a new level of stupid among so called Redskins fans. Many of these idiots wouldn't know football if it hit them in the head. This "Martha Lewis" moron takes the cake although her thoughts our somewhat consistent with some other media types who don't have a clue about the NFL. Some folks just don't get it.

Her comments are right on point with the ABC crowd, and to a degree point to WHY we have an ABC crowd at all. She insinuates that people like Cousins simply because he is not the guy that came before him, and as I have said for a while most of the ABC crowd developed an instant hate for Cousins because of the guy he replaced.

Here is her initial comment on the subject (talking about her so-called husband):

He defends Cousins and I didn't understand why and he won't share why but I know my husband. So I realized that he's a symbol because of the RG3 situation of some sort. It's a White male thing I believe. I just see it how it is for me. He's a good likable person but is NO way like the great QBs. Yes, his stats are great but so was many others in their first years. I'm a Skins fan and DO NOT have confidence or the belief that he will win a game for us in the end regardless to his stats. I still believe this today even though I like him a lot more.

Really? Who the hell talks like this? "It's a While male thing"? Seriously? Jeez - I don't want to have conditional fans on my side who think like this (whether they are for RG3 or Cousins). I rooted for both of them & the only colors that I care about in this argument are Burgundy and Gold. Fuck crow barring politics & other BS into the equation. One of the main reasons that I watch sports is to get away from all of that noise.

I question the sincerity of the poster, and believe that he/she may be a totally different person than being portrayed & has an agenda & is not really a Skins fan (or a conditional or lukewarm one at best). Truly hate fans that throw this type of slant at things. HTTR

It really depends on how quick we offer it. If we wait until the tag is layed, then yes it will be more.

I think 31 million per over six seasons with 110 mil guaranteed does it.
