I like your beard.
Stoll gets contract (although not with Kings), Voynov paying his way through prison, Kane under heavy suspicion...and the guy taking an oxy over the border gets terminated. Yep.
Still won't look as foolish as Lombardi does for not buying this contract out last summer. So four possible outcomes
Kings win Richards screwed
Richards made a King again and kings buy him out in a year
Richards bought out now and kings get stuck with buyout cap hit now
Some agreement that makes the NHL look even more foolish

I don't know nor do I think that is the reason the Kings canned him. We can agree that if he didn't suck and didn't have a horrid contract this would be swept under the rug. However he did suck and did (does) have a horrid contract. Then he gets caught doing something stupid. Kings say thank you and goodbye. NHLPA will fight this and I think based on this they could win. The other stupid thing he did not was hide it from the team. Sure it is a technicality but the Kings are going to claim he intentionally hid information from them that harmed the team.had Mike Richards already been through the substance abuse program before this incident?
TSN seems to think the NHLPA likely has the upper hand. Perhaps most intriguing to me is what happens if the NHLPA wins their case. The Kings were planning to buy Richards out before they went for the termination route. So if the arbitrator rules the Kings can't actually terminate his contract, does the league - and NHLPA - allow them to do a buyout even though they're outside of the buyout window, given the unusual circumstances?

the kings lucked out big time. I don't see how the nhlpa is going to win this
Easy the Kings violated the collective bargaining agreementthe kings lucked out big time. I don't see how the nhlpa is going to win this

If a settlement is reached, there's no word yet on what salary cap penalties the Kings would still face. There's bound to be something, but not likely as onerous as the full value of Richards' contract, which carries with it a cap hit of $5.75 million. If there's a settlement, Richards would undoubtedly become a free agent though there's no telling at this point what monies he would be entitled to from the Kings in a settlement.
I just don't know, Lombardi had the chance for an amnesty buyout and passed, all I can say is I won't be pleased if the Kings still don't have some kind of cap hit once the dust settles.
I just dislike this all around. The contract is either valid or it isn't. Quoting Bob:If a settlement is reached, there's no word yet on what salary cap penalties the Kings would still face. Let me see what Zack Kassian is making before I give my opinion.
