Nick Martinez with 9 strikeouts in 6 innings tonight. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk. Over his last 2 starts he has pitched 14 innings and has 20 strikeouts. The outing before those 2 he went 7 innings and struck out 5. So maybe some progress.

I would really like to see that translate to the bigs. What pitches is he getting his strikeouts on?

It's a short term move that can cause long term riffs in the club house. You don't do it unless you're going to trade odor.
There is some thought that you can't take Prince out of the lineup for the same reason.

Odor hasn't even played a full season yet at 2B so I would definitely give it some consideration. Again though, I don't think it will happen.

We don't need to give him the contract he's going to command. Look at his career numbers. This current run is clearly the outlier.
I understand but some players click at an older age. And we have no guarantee that what replaces him produces.

he could also go on another stretch where he hits .109 over a 3 week period
True, we don't even know what his numbers will look like at the end of this year.

I really didn't know Mazara had that cannon for an arm. It's not Leonys good, but it's pretty damn good.

Odor isn't hitting .190.

Maybe in the minor league report tomorrow Scott Lucas will tell us that.

You don't bank on the outlier contract year.

True. But most players hit a lull. You guys are sure kicking what has been a life saver in the butt.

Exactly. People just assume this is going to continue. Desmond is really streaky. People are forgetting that.

No, it isn't nearly the same difference, but the clubhouse trouble could be greater in doing it to Prince. Somehow the team survived while moving Young twice and I don't think Odor would put up nearly the fuss that he did. I certainly understand your point though.

Absolutely not. We're incredibly appreciative of what he's done. We also know that it's not a reason to sink big money into another multi year deal based on an outlier run.

I wasn't commenting on the clubhouse effects nearly as much as the effect it might have on Odor.

Leonys went there and raked it...makes no sense.

They've pulled the walls in. Also, let's check his numbers at the end of the season.
