KFAB will no longer be the Huskers radio affiliate in Omaha

I live in SD near Mitchell. I can't pick up 1110 however I can pick up 590 and I've had it on clear out to Rapid City and Gettysburg SD. So I'm a happy camper up here.

That's interesting. Are you speaking of day or night?

1110- was able to get this in my driveway. Fairly clear, but you could tell it wasn't a local station.

590- nothing in the driveway. Outside of town I could hear it, but it was phasing with other stations and a lot of static. Nothing you could listen to a game on.

Try 1110 at night.

Daytime power: 10,000 Watts

Nighttime power: 1000 Watts.

Beam pattern looks about right. I usually lose it just past St Joseph, Mo and Concordia, KS

Unfortunately, I didn't book mark the thread I read earlier to bring up here. In essence, it said that the "new" station would stretch as far as KFAB did viewer wise. I'm aware that UNL opted for the "money". Yet, I don't think they would shoot themselves in the foot by not having the same "viewing audience" distance wise that they had before. Doesn't make sense.

Distance wise maybe, but the area is not aimed at fans, it's aimed at people. More people in Iowa will get the game than those outside Omaha in Nebraska.

Yup.

It's actually not as important as it used to be since all of the football games are televised on basic cable and satellite services with the advent of BTN.

It'll make a difference in baseball and other sports though.

Just got caught up in this while taking my daughter to dance class.

Turned on KFAB (1110) to listen to pre-game while driving and there was some other BS on.

Then I remembered this thread and went to 590.

I didn't even have it programmed into my radio.

whenever Iam in the area I listen to 1110 am ---love the radio station
then it saddly goes away when I reach GI area
I like the dude that follows Ruth Limdaugh's show
