I cant even get 1620 in lincoln

I've had that happen depending on weather. I don't think their techs are very good. They drift off frequency a lot even here in town.

Last November I listened to them til about Concordia, KS before it started getting too noisy and breaking up. Best I've ever done with them. It was a crisp sunny day.

Note the disclaimer.

*Please note that this map only shows the predicted "groundwave" coverage of this radio station. At night, changes in the Earth's ionosphere can greatly extend the coverage of AM radio stations. So at night, you may be able to hear this station from a distance much farther than indicated above.

The difference is in antenna beam pattern.

1110 is directional west
590 is non-directional (2 antennas pointing in opposite directions making a 360.

That's why you don't here people east say they've heard KFAB from great distances.

At nighttime 1110's power reaches much further west (and south and north)

So what you're really telling us is that we need to hope for all night games this fall. Yaaaay science

It's not really what I said that's important. It's what I didn't say that's important.

What I didn't say was that this doesn't effect me.

I am greatly interested in the results of TomHusker's test.

HISL definitely wouldn't pick up 1110. 590 being low power is doubtful as well.

From the posted maps, I am outside the range of both stations, by a long ways.

Why would you want to in the afternoons? It's horrible

They don't have any more Bo material. Bo did wonders for 1620. He even helped launch tv careers for a couple. Granted they were in tv locally, but not nationally.

I think you'll get 1110. Particularly on a clear night. I'm doubtful on 590 in any condition.

Actually I have picked up KFAB at night in several states when out in Ithe middle of nowhere. It and a Chicago station, WSB I think. I know I have in Texas Oklahoma and one of either GA or TN.

Texas and Oklahoma for KFAB yeah. GA or TN must have been the Chicago station.

I have been able to pick up KFAB every now and then, sometimes so clear you wouldn't know it wasn't a local station when driving thru the mountains here in CO. I will have to check 590 next time I am out.

A couple years ago I went fishing up in South Dakota on the river 2 or 3 times a week and I listened to 1110 while I was fishing every time.

Good experiment time for our out-of-staters.

See which signal you can pick up better. 1110 or 590.

Do it at night where the sun's not interfering with the signal. Your car radio will work if you're out in the open or on a hill. Be sure you're on AM (duh).

I live in SD near Mitchell. I can't pick up 1110 however I can pick up 590 and I've had it on clear out to Rapid City and Gettysburg SD. So I'm a happy camper up here.

1110- was able to get this in my driveway. Fairly clear, but you could tell it wasn't a local station.

590- nothing in the driveway. Outside of town I could hear it, but it was phasing with other stations and a lot of static. Nothing you could listen to a game on.
