Huskers land Top247 Quarterback
Mike Schaefer
Nebraska turned a spring visit from Kevin Dillman into a celebration by landing the four-star quarterback’s commitment on Saturday morning.
Kevin Dillman
"Me and my family are on a visit and it's been a great visit," Dillman said. "I've had a relationship with coach (Tim) Beck for a long time. They did a great job of recruiting me."
Dillman and his parents are visiting Lincoln this weekend, and the Huskers have been one of the prospect's strongest pursuers.
NU was recruiting Dillman in 2013 when he attended La Mirada High in California; the Huskers were also after his then teammate Dallis Todd. The quarterback had a tough junior season with an Achilles injury that robbed him of valuable playing time.
Following the season, Dillman moved from California to Texas and enrolled to play at Denton Guyer. He’ll have big shoes to fill in 2014 as he’ll take over for Jerrod Heard, a four-star Texas Longhorn signee. In Guyer’s versatile offense Heard finished with more than 4,000 combined rushing and passing yards while scoring 49 total touchdowns.
Denton Guyer quarterback coach Lee Vallejo said on Thursday the 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback has already made a strong impression on the Denton Guyer coaching staff.
“We’ve gone through a couple drills and you can tell he’s a very, very intelligent person,” the coach said. “We’ve gone over our offensive game plans and to help prepare him for spring ball. He’s picking it up because he’s a very intelligent person. Then he throws a great, great ball. Good spiral and very catchable. His progress has gone 180 since he enrolled in January. I’m very excited about him.”
As interesting as Dillman’s transition to Denton Guyer has been it’s nothing compared to coming to America from Sweden. The quarterback came as a foreign exchange student as a freshman, impressed coaches out West, went back to Sweden to figure out his paperwork in order to become a full United States citizen. After that the offers came rolling in.
At the time of his commitment, Dillman held 13 offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, UCLA and others. He is currently ranked by 247Sports as the No. 238 player in the country and the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback.
Dillman would be the fifth Nebraska quarterback to sign with the Huskers over the past four recruiting cycles. He joins Tommy Armstrong (2012), Johnny Stanton (2013), Zach Darlington (2014) and A.J. Bush (2014).
Love it! What's up Bubba!
If he lights it up in Texas, I am going out on a limb and saying he flips. The Texas schools will be all over him. I also bet any financial considerations he is getting by going to Texas will have a determination also.
Unless the Academic All Americans at Nebraska mean something to him and his father.

Dillman does need some work fundamentals but as a QB IMO he's better then Bubba Starling.
