Keepers and pre-draft trades

so this dude has offered me Judge for a 6th rd pick (64th overall)

he has also offered me Ohtani for my 4 rd and 9th round picks

to me, those sound too good and I should take them

but I have never played in a keeper league and done trades like this...so what's his angle?

if weekly, can you start him at both SP and DH/U in the same week??

if daily lineup changes Ohtani is easily a top 10 player, and worth any deal you can make...

if weekly and you can start him as both SP and DH/U at the same time, he is probably worth the value but it is much closer...

if weekly and you can NOT start him at both SP and DH/U at the same time, then he is not worth the deal

I think 4th round, 40th overall

right now...I don't know about my keepers...I don't have the greatest squad. Soto is the only sure thing for a keeper.

I don't think we have limits on that...

I should just take that offer, right?

You are able to check your league settings page to be sure, right? How is your draft order determined? Is it possible the 4th rounder you would be trading to him would be at the front of the line, IOW, the pick of the best unkept players? I am not sure what to think in that case.

draft is based on last year's standings, I got 9th

no limits on how many times a keeper can be kept...this is our second year doing keepers

and you are right, I would be trading the 4th overall pick

I would bite on the Ohtani offer especially since Judge has also had durability issues in his career -- see how it goes over.

so the same guy has offered Ohtani and Judge

I'd bet he keeps Buehler, Devers...not sure on the third

Okay, this is clearer to me now. Since his team is stacked, he is making a couple of friendly offers to you since you lack a strong 3rd keeper; can be a win-win for you both. My guess is he isn't done trading. In his shoes, I would definitely be shopping Ray. And either Bieber or Judge, depending on the status of Bieber's health.

He is offering both as far as I can tell

And I could certainly use some more meat in my keepers...but do I not keep Riley it I make the deal?

That is up to you whether you prefer Riley over than Judge+loss of your 6th.

so i am not liking the way this is set up...

basically this dude that had a stacked team last year is trading off his players that he isn't keeping and getting a bunch of early draft picks

shouldn't he only be able to trade his keepers? Like set your keepers and then your roster gets cleared and those who you didn't keep are now FAs.

he shouldn't be able to trade his non-keepers and amass draft picks like this...
