"If Abdul-Jabbar wants to point to the idea that teams these days can't run out in transition properly, well that's largely true around the country and it's not just a UCLA problem. It points to two things. First, teams and coaches are slowing down the pace more, and getting more creative in how to slow teams down on the break. Second, it's a systemic problem with the way basketball is taught on the grassroots level as opposed to the way it's taught at UCLA. Again, not necessarily the most valid criticism of his program in particular even if the Bruins did struggle on the break last year. One thing you have to remember is that Alford doesn't have four years to teach kids how to play like Wooden did. He has a shifting dynamic of eligibility, where sometimes he only has one or two years to teach kids. It's harder nowadays, and that degree of difficulty must be remembered."

Would Kareem have stayed four years if he didn't have to? Hmm.....maybe. Lord knows Bill Walton would not have.

Kareem is always angry and critical of something.
