So now physical attributes are the same as skill sets?

Take away Dirks shooting and he never even makes the NBA - which is exactly what Kareem is saying.

Take aways Shaqs size and for all we know he becomes an all-star PG.

So how is that the same?

If you take away Dirks shooting though, maybe he becomes a rebound/defensive specialist ala Rodman minus the wedding gown.

Either way, I understand that Kareem was slamming Dirk because he doesn't play enough defense, but in some ways that isn't Dirk's fault. Kareem was given the best coach in the last 50 years outside of Phil Jackson and had the best players of all time on his team. I won't say it was easy because winning a title is never easy, but it sure seems like to me that Kareem had one hell of a better team than what Dirk ever had or dreamed of. Take Dirk and put him under Riley on that team with Kareem and who knows what Dirk might have done. I doubt that Dirk would have been a good defensive player, but I am betting that a better coach would have plenty of influence

Not in his first Championship TLF.

KAJ won his first Championship with a Coach named Larry Costello and teammates Oscar Robertson, Bob Dandridge, Jon McGlocklin, Greg Smith, Lucius Allen, Bob Boozer & Dick Cunningham. Sure he had the Big O but I believe Oscar was 39 years old for that Championship year. (Sound familiar? ala J. Kidd)

KAJ got his first Championship in his 2nd year and the Bucks 3rd year in the League. Of course then KAJ was known as Lew Alcindor.

VITAMIKE! Great that someone remembers that team. KAJ was unstoppable ... and Big O was over the hill -- but got his championship.

The Lakers' had an excuse to losing to the Bucks -- West was hurt ... and Baylor was old. The Lakers picked up a coach from the Celtics who carried them the next year ... one of the best 3 or 4 teams ever.
