To be honest, I'm not too fond of hearing these national anthems, and especially all this 'support the troops' stuff. It's just a game, and I want it to be all about the game. I know I'm probably in the minority on this.

The national anthem and our flag is about so much more than military support.

You think sitting for the National Anthem will change how police react to black people. You think by sitting during the anthem that it will make black people's lives better. At my school we say the pledge of allegiance every morning. I don't care if the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in my class don't say the pledge, that they don't place their right hand over their heart, but I do require them to do the very very bare minimum which is stand for your country. No country is perfect but why live in it if you don't love or at least like it. Be apart of the solution or change instead of IMO being disrespectful. I apologize if I am wrong about this part but in 1968 Olympics I believe the USA had black athletes on the winners podium and they showed their support for black lives (Black Power) by raising their fist in the air. But you know what? They did this while still standing while the anthem played. I am not saying Kaepernick shouldn't be entitled to his views but I disagree with how he expressing them.

Well stated. Other countries have different views. Probably a good reason not to expand American Football to other countries, ever.

A total jackass move, but you watch...when he's cut, whenever that is, or if he's not named the starter, he's going to claim it was because of his national anthem stance and comments about it and not because he wasn't a good enough player.

Getting paid $15M a year to be a crappy QB and telling me that his kind are being oppressed in this country? I'm not saying an argument cannot be made in that regard (discussion for a different forum, which I don't frequent), but he's not the guy to deliver it. At Boise State, we had a grudging respect for Kaepernick, we managed to beat him 3 out of 4 times, but the one loss hurt a lot. I hoped that his talent would do him well at the next level. As to his not standing, well, I guess he has the right, but fans also have the right to take exception, and his boss has the right to not renew his huge contract. Meanwhile, can I show how the Broncos helped him have a seat?

Just seems like there are plenty of ways that can have a much better and positive impact than that of sitting for the National Anthem. I mean if we actually want to fix the problem of racism then why work to divide people all the more? Doesn't seem like a great way to do things.

Maybe he can start by donating millions to actual organizations working to help raise awareness of the problem. Maybe he can actually go volunteer his time to go and speak on this topic more so than just bashing the country on national tv. Maybe he can realize that what the flag stands for is exactly what he is saying he is protesting. Doesn't mean our nation is perfect but the principals that it stands for are very much in line with what he is thinking. To me he should be fighting for what the flag stands for not sitting in protest.
