First of all, Peyton also owns a few businesses and presumably if money is that important to Wilson he might do something similar. It is more than just endorsements they can earn off the field. I believe Peyton owns some pizza franchises or something? :noidea: I think that $12m/yr doesn't include that.

Second, I said I think Wilson has more potential. That is just my opinion. An opinion that clearly you don't agree with. Can't we just leave it at that?

As for how long until he gets past those Brees/Rodgers/etc money, I think it could be in the next year or so. Peyton's light is fading and there is zero doubt on that. Not that he is being dropped today by any of his companies, but you know they are all looking to who's next. Those second tier guys you mention are second tier for a reason. None of them are younger emerging players building up. They are what they are. So who else is coming in to be that face of the NFL? Kaepernick? Netwon? Maybe Luck? Wilson is cashing in already because it's sexy to be in Seattle right now with what's happening on the field AND he is a damn good guy. He is something companies can and will latch onto because of both of those. And they already are.

Now both of us have shared those opinions and unless you'd like to find something I actually said that is false I see no reason to keep on with another 10 pages over it. Especially since this is a thread about Kaepernick and his stupid antics over his salary desires. I read somewhere today that he is scoffing at the idea of 18m and is looking more like 20+. There is still plenty of meat in this story to hold up this thread. What impact it might have on Wilson and what Wilson's motivation will be when his talks open up next year should probably be in a different place.

He could very easily stay the face of those endorsements well after he retired if he so chose. For 5 years he's still fresh enough, them after that it's "hall of famer" Peyton Manning.

Wilson will never be the face of the NFL. His playing style isn't sexy enough.

He's also.......

- Not tall enough to play quarterback
- Not big enough to last in the league
- Can't see over offensive linemen
- Not a pure pocket passer so cannot be successful in the league
- Will never win a Superbowl

The list goes on...

I'm sure many thought his arm wasn't strong enough to make this throw

There isn't a QB in the league who can't make that throw.

But he hasn't done anything yet. He won with a stacked team.

So what, so did TB on his SB runs.

If you can't see Wilson's potential you are blind.

Potential is one thing.

Pretending he's already anything resembling a super star after being carried to a Super Bowl by one of the better defenses in recent memory is a whole different thing.

His very good QB play helps the defense be even better.

His play is slightly above average so far. You would have won the Super Bowl with any of 20 guys at QB.

The fact is that they didn't. There are not 20 smarter QBs than Wilson, many would have stubbed their toe at some time and it would have costed them.

They would have made more plays to cancel out the mistakes. I don't think the defense could over someone as joke-worthy as a romo or cutler, but most anyone else? Absolutely.

Wilson's play to opportunity ratio is as high as anyone in the league. You've been very wrong about to this point, it will take you a few years to catch up. It will also take you a while to realize your own guy can't get it down field anymore.

Sure he can. There are no viable down the field threats that have been anything resembling healthy. He has made the throws in the few situations where he has had opportunities to do so, but when your biggest receiving options are people like Edelman, Amendola, etc, you don't give them deep balls.

Wilson's ypa is 18 slots ahead of Brady, and he doesn't exactly have a stable of downfield threats.

They're all more vertical threats more than underneath ones. Every single one of them.

No, they're not. Wilson just has a stronger arm right now than Brady, and a better comp%, and better td-int ratio... Face it, he has passed him.

Laughable. I'm not even going to bother with such an absurd claim.

It's not absurd. I'm not saying that he has passed TB career-wise, just that he is currently better. Brady is descending, Wilson is ascending. It's not tough to notice this.

You have to win something big and show that the win was because you were there, not because of who else was there.....Kap has proven nothing more than he can win with a fully loaded team around him, heck, Kyle Boller could do that....lol
Well that may be a stretch, but Kopatrick has not showed up when he needed to most, so no, he should have to play out his rookie contract and prove he is that guy before he gets elite money.....
Unless you have an idiot like Jerry Jones or the likes as an owner...
I personally don't believe he will prove out, and will be just another flash in the pan.....
And Jim Harbs is about a dollar short of a nickel , so I wouldn't trust his judgement anyway...just sayin'

Kaepernick may want $18 million per year, but he'll never see it. QB contracts are a farce. They sign these deals for huge annual averages that are massively backloaded and then inevitably have them reworked before they become a problem. Only one QB actually accounted for at least $18 million against the cap last year (Eli Manning). There are 7 QBs who have an average salary of $18 million over their contracts (3 of which I fully expect to be reworked before the major money hits their cap number). I don't see Kaep as a top 10 QB, he may be one eventually, but not right now.

I'm sure he'll get the average salary of 18 or more, just not sure it'll be much more than a pride issue, as I just don't see him getting that money without a reworking.

Gabbert will get $18M before Kaepernick will.
