Do they even play the American anthem in the CFL?

He can stand for it from the couch when he watches on Sundays like the rest of us...

He will be in the league even if it is as a 3rd string. Do you realize how bad some of these backup QBs are? Your Steelers are a perfect example. Landry Jones sucks

I think KC would be a humorous place for him to be a backup but the Chiefs would have to be really low on this QB class. Really low.

In other words he is saying, "I'm about to be a free agent, and I don't want teams to think I may be a distraction with my kneeing thing, so now I won't be doing it any longer!"

Does this mean he'll be standing for the Anthem in his living room on Sundays? How many teams would really be interested in him?

I'm not sayin he isn't talented... Just a huge distraction that no team wants. There are usually a few teams that don't mind the circus, but the Steelers are definitely not one of them. No thanks.

But if he is truly going to stand next year, is he really going to be a distraction? Not like he was a known as a cancer/bad teammate. I can't see him being a distraction if he plans on standing for the anthem next season

Exactly...add to it the market for me will already be 'slim to none' and you nailed

Yes, and considering how politically toxic this entire nation is at this point in time, teams damn sure won't want to sign a politically-controversial backup quarterback. His agent probably told him to nip that shit in the bud if he wants a job in 2017.

Let me translate why Colin is really doing this.

"I'm now jobless because the 49ers were going to cut me anyway, so now I need to show everyone else in the NFL that I care and wont be a distraction."

What a total douche nozzle.

He needs to fire his agent then cause that dumpster fire started back in the fall of 2016.....

Should've been more prepared!

IMO, he will get a few invites to work out with some teams, but unless he just blows them away, he is likely to be sitting out next NFL season. NFL teams won't want to risk the hassle. One scenario I could see happen is if he does look pretty good in a work out, but not even close to starting for that team, they may offer him the veteran minimum (I think his would be around $800k).

If we're just talking about football...imo you could do worse than Kaep at QB, certainly as a backup. The standing or not standing stuff...whatever price he has to pay for it is his own undoing.

I heard on sportstalk radio today the Jets might be interested.
