Yes the SEC is by far the most dominate and entertaining conference in football. That being said, the state of Florida is the foundation. However, players in the state of Florida, for some reason, are the biggest sellouts to the state that made them as good as they are. It’s funny how quickly most of the top recruits from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Louisiana etc would not dare to go play for some other state school because repping their upbringing and home is all that matters. For some reason though, Florida players have been continuously fooled into thinking playing for those other state schools is better for their future. What a joke. Those players in those other states don’t care about Florida players. Most hate them. They would never think about jumping state to play with others who weren’t a part of their up bringing. Yet Florida does it so easily. It’s like they are ok with following others because they were told they would beat their home state schools if they attended one of these other universities. They must be brainwashed man because let’s face it, if Florida football recruits stayed in state, there is not another team in FBS that would have a chance to compete with these players. Hopefully one day they will wake up and realize, let’s stay home and dominate all these other state bums like Georgia and Alabama who think it’s a joke to play in the state of Florida. They actually laugh at how much better they have been. They won't go to Florida then why should Florida players go to them? One day hopefully they will see how much more abundant and better the talent pools are across Florida if players decide to speak up, stay home and rep the greatest friggin football state in America

Players want to go where they can win & compete for championships, and also where they can develop into the types of players that will be NFL-ready when their college playing days are over. That's why they have been bolting the Sunshine State for places like Alabama, Georgia & Ohio St. It is up to the Florida schools to step up in those areas if they want to start keeping more players at home. And, by the way, Georgia loses plenty of in-state players, too, but probably holds onto a higher percentage of their top quality athletes. Alabama produces fewer players, but keeps most of the better ones at home. Louisiana rarely loses a player to an outside school, unless it's to Alabama.

And, by the way, many of Florida's best players aren't 100% home-grown. They import high school players from other states to play at prep schools like IMG Academy, and many of those athletes don't consider themselves "Floridians" even if they played a year or two within the state.

Florida’s 3 programs that have been great at various times since the 80s have produced 11 national titles in the AP/UPI/BCS/CFP eras.

The 2 major programs in Alabama (a state about 1/4 the size of Florida) have produced 15.

There’s a hell of a lot more to being a championship program than just getting Florida players.

Up until the mid-1980's Florida was very sparsely populated & didn't produce near as much football talent as they do today, and the Miami team that produced the State of Florida's first national championship team in 1983 was loaded with out-of-state talent. The core members of the SEC/ACC produced 15 national champions between 1912 & 1982, and none of them came from Florida. And, Ohio St., a team that currently recruits the Florida area well, produced 5 more champions during that era.

Note: SEC/ACC core members include those schools that were members of the Southern Conference before the SEC broke away in 1933 & the ACC followed suit in 1953 (excluding the current Florida teams that are now members of the two leagues). Here's how those schools fared in winning national championships in the different college football eras (does not include the pre-modern era of 1869-1911):

EARLY MODERN AREA (no distinction between school sizes) 1912-36

Core SEC/ACC Florida Schools Ohio St.
Alabama 3* 0 0
Georgia Tech 2

MAJOR COLLEGE DISTINCTION ERA (NCAA rated teams as "Major" or "University Division" and "College Division") 1937-77

Core SEC/ACC Florida Schools Ohio St.
Alabama 3* 0 5*
Tennessee 1
LSU 1
Auburn 1*
Ole Miss*

DIVISION I SPLIT ERA (Division I football is split into 1A (FBS) and 1AA (FCS) 1978-97

Core SEC/ACC Florida Schools Ohio St.
Alabama 3* Miami 4* 0
Georgia 1 FSU 1
Clemson 1 Florida 1
Georgia Tech 1*

BCS/COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF ERA 1998-present

Core SEC/ACC Florida Schools Ohio St.
Alabama 6 Miami 1 2
LSU 3* FSU 2
Clemson 2 Florida 2
Tennessee 1
Auburn 1
