Saban has only 4 NCs as a head coach, and Strong has ... oh, wait a minute.

Seriously, it is a good hire. Strong is a good coach ... doesn't have the NCs and the Super Bowls Texas purportedly wanted, but outside Saban, can't see any downside to Strong.

Maybe you should look at his resume.

He's a great Xs and Os coach, and he DEVELOPS TALENT on both sides of the ball. Half his UL roster is florida kids and a LARGE contingent of Texas kids. He's put multiple 3 star prospects into the NFL as first rounders, and he recruited and developed Bridgewater. Not sure exactly what it is you think he's not a good fit for.

He's a great coach. Wish scar would have hired him instead of spurrier, but we keep going to the coaching retirement home

Star, the guy won't win a conference championship quickly and the Horns will start complaining. He has NEVER had to deal with the pressure of coaching at some place like UT. When some of the fans get "itchy" the friction won't be easy to resolve. I'm not doubting his abilities; I'm very skeptical of his being a good fit at Texas. He would be a better fit at a couple of other high profile programs but not UT. I'm not dissing your program; I'm just saying what a fair number of Texas fans are already going to be talking about if the gets the job.

In order to get a great program to become great again......is it so un-heard of to hire a black HC? What better scenario is it to get a college power house to get on track?

My gut says very good hire especially defensively but I do have some reservations about him:
1. How much better did Teddy B make him look? I know you have to give him cred for getting Teddy to UL but can he continue getting/developing good QBs?
2. Can he get it done against better competition? He didn't win the AAC this year WITH a very good college QB, how will he adapt to the Big12 and the offenses? Going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. Game on!
