I dont even care if hes hurt. Just the chance of us having a threat like that returning kicks would have me throw money at him. I say sign him for whatever is left after signing the rookies. Should be about 4-5 million. Anyone know how much he was making last year?

wow, only made 956,000 last year. Made about 2.5 mil in 2011. I'd still pay like 4 mil to have him here.

If the Lions pay Josh Cribbs 4 mil/year, my reaction would be so negative MikeD and Shok would sound positive by comparison.

what else would you do with the money. Id rather overpay for a proven return man than save money with someone like stephan logan. I still cant get over that fair catch

I think secondary is a more dire situation for the Lions. If I was a Lions fan I'd much rather drop money on a secondary gamble than an injured wideout.

I don't have any problem with Josh Cribbs. I think Cribbs will make our team a little better. I have a problem with paying Josh Cribbs 4 million dollars. Cribbs is not getting a mil/year anywhere unless he gets insanely lucky. 2 mil would be way to much to pay him but I wouldn't completely lose it on that. Anything over 2 would be just idiotic.

We can not afford to have ST specialists on this team. We have too many holes to fill still.

Is there any single player in free agency right now that would plug a hole long term. I think most impact free agents are gone except for the veteran defensive ends. To be a good team you need to be good in all 3 phases of the game. If the season were to start today I would be confident that our offense and our defense could hold their own out there against most teams. However our special teams could not compete even with the worst team.

Why the secondary? They signed Glover Quin and re-signed Louis Delmas. Re-signed Chris Houston and drafted Darius Slay, as well as Bentley, Jonte Green and Chris Greenwood last year and Ron Bartell in the offseason.

The secondary has a chance to go from a weakness to a strength for the Lions.

Exactly! That's why it pisses me off when people say that the secondary was horrible. We brought back the strengths of last year and either replaced or upgraded the weaknesses. We have like 7 CBs on the roster right now. All p which we drafted or have starting experience

Yeah, I'd prolly have a couple things to say if we pay him anything. In my money Fantasy Football League, the worst starter of the week is awarded the "Josh Cribbs Award". Josh Cribbs has a lot of his own trophies.

With Bentley and Green having a year under their belt I think they'll only get better. Let the young guys play.

As for Cribbs I'd only sign him for less than a million.

I'd love to add Cribbs as long as the price is right. He'd settle down our return game and provide some extra depth at WR...

Dude, he's played 8 seasons, in five of them he's caught 10 or less passes. Joique Bell thinks that's weak.

not as a reciever bro. As a receiver, Charles Rogers was probably better. But as a return man. having feild possesion past our 20 yard line would surely help us score more haha

Charles Rogers was probably better than most receivers in the NFL.... Fucking Dre Bly. I was aiming at TPaul, Black Magic. I won't disagree with you that Cribbs would be an upgrade as a return man. He would. I just don't want to see the Lions spend a roster spot on a return man again. We already have one receiver who covers kicks, I don't want to see 4% of the roster occupied by receivers who dont/wont contribute on offense. Unless Cribbs can cover kicks, cuz that's what fucked us, IMO. Plus Stafford can't throw for 5000 yards if we consistently have solid field position. (smiley face)

You guys crack me up. I say "extra depth" at WR and you get all up in arms. There'd be at least 4, maybe 5 guys ahead of him on the WR depth chart, so I wouldn't get too worried about his receiving skills. But as a depth guy he's better than a lot of 5th or 6th WRs out there.

Hus value is and always has been on special teams, but he's also only two years removed from a mildly productive 2011 season that saw 41 catches for over 500 yards and 4 TDs. Not a stellar season by any measure, but for a depth WR I'll take it. Ideally he hardly plays any snaps as a wide-out, but if he's pressed into service due to injuries we could do worse (like we did last year with Kris Durham or Brian Robiske).

He's also had some success at RB in his time at Cleveland, so perhaps in addition to being our primary returner perhaps the coaches are thinking of putting him in a "combo-back" position behind Bush and Riddick. He's a threat to catch and run, and he's got the size for it, so maybe that's where he'd best add value if he gets signed?

I'm not advocating making him an intrigal part of the offense, but if he can add a spark to our return game and improve our depth (and depth only, he wouldn't be in our top 5 WRs or top 4 RBs, total reserve, for emergencies or change-of-pace only) at WR and RB then I think he'd be a valuable addition.

Versatility is key for those last few roster spots, and I think Cribbs offers more than Logan did out of the same roster spot...
