People in the White Sox organization said this in spring training and most outside sources shrugged it off. These people in the Sox organization literally think he is better than Mike Trout (atleast at hitting).

But in his first 24 career games, he already has 9 home runs and 27 RBI. There is no telling what this kid can do. It remains to be seen but it is pretty remarkable so far.

He's very good but he is not better than Trout. And while hes a rookie he certainly ain't "young" like Trout.

27 isn't exactly young. And even if he was younger, Trout's still better.

Since we're calling 27 young then Goldy is the second best young hitter in the game behind Trout.

Is this post a joke? The guy is 27 years old and he is nowhere near Trout, who is 6 or 7 years younger.

Let pitchers face him a second time and see how to pitch him and then talk about Abreu. And for crying out loud -- the guy is only hitting .263 as we speak anyways.

and yet, he's in the top 10 in the AL in OPS+.

but yeah, it's a little early to talk him up. He has only 107 PA under his belt.

When you hit 9 home runs in 107 PA, you are going to be in the top 10 in OPS. I'm going out on a limb and saying he isn't going to hit 60 homeruns and have 182 RBI's, which he is on pace for. He actually has the same amount of homeruns as he does singles right now.

Once pitchers figure out his strengths and weaknesses -- he will have to go thru an adjustment period, just like the pitchers are right now.

I think he will hit 35-40 home runs though -- he has freakish strength when he does connect. He hit not one, but two balls out to dead center at Comerica which is 420 straight away.

And that is just it. How many players hit 40 homeruns in their rookie year?

Guy won't keep his pace obviously, but he is ridiculous.

He is not better than mike trout now. Or mike trout two years ago.

That is a fact.

Dudes a tremendous talent. But it's a lot like when Ichiro came to the states. Great player, ROY,(I figured he would be before the season. Can't see how he won't be now. Unless he gets hurt preAS break.) but he's in his prime right now. Yes, he's young. But he's older than Giancarlo Stanton, who's in his fifth season. And only three months younger than reigning NL MVP Andrew McCutcheon who's in his sixth.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't hit 40. (Barring a decent DL stint.)

That is a fact.

Mike Trout 2 years ago hit 30 HR and 83 RBI while striking out 139 times and only walking 67 times. Granted that was his first year playing. His best hitting stat was he hit 326.

Abreu is on pace to beat every one of those numbers except average.

What makes Mike Trout so valuable is that he is good at everything (the perfect 5 tool player). But there are a good 10-15 players who are just as good if not better at batting alone.

I was (like people in the Sox organization) are comparing the 2 at hitting alone. Obviously a lot of people are going to disagree with it. It is a bold statement. And Abreu has only played almost a month so far. But people within the organization who have seen him hit for years in lower levels say he has the potential to be a sensational hitter. One of the best in the game. They don't make this shit up. It has a fair chance at happening.

There is nothing you can do though to compare though other than a players first year is a players first year.

It is the same people that want to throw out LeBron's first few years when comparing his stats to Jordan's. You have no choice but to compare them.

A teenager and a twenty seven year old should not be compared apples to apples. It's not like Abreu wasn't playing high quality talent prior to this season. He's in his prime, as a rookie.

You can't be serious with this. Trout missed a month and batted lead off. 83 RBI is expected at lead off. Look at trouts rookie year to Ichiros for example.

Again, abreu is great but to call him young and the best young player is grounds for a month in a psych ward.

First of all Trout was 20-21 in 2012 and he is 4.5 years younger than Abreu.

Second, Abreu was playing in basically a minor league. If you disagree and think it as a league like MLB then that just makes those 5 years even more impressive. That is because his numbers would suggest an MVP at the MLB level.

Be real. If he continues, it is damn close.

What? Are you drunk?

You're proving the point even more Trout is younger and ESTABLISHED while being better. Your initial post was BEST not CLOSE to the best.

Hell even this year trout has a better average, obp and OPS. And guess what? We know this is the norm for Mike. Abreu is in his first month.

Or how about station? Younger and equal numbers.
