“Through a malicious and orchestrated campaign, the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell sought to destroy the career and reputation of Jon Gruden, the former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders,” the lawsuit filed Thursday in Clark County District Court stated.

Gruden’s lawyers wrote in the 21-page complaint that he was “forced to resign.”
“When their initial salvo did not result in Gruden’s firing or resignation, Defendants ratcheted up the pressure by intimating that further documents would become public if Gruden was not fired,” the lawsuit stated. “They followed through with this threat by leaking another batch of documents to the New York Times for an October 11, 2021 article. On October 7, 2021, Jon Gruden was the head coach of the Raiders on a 10-year, $100-million contract. By October 11, 2021, he had been forced to resign.”

Dude chose to resign. If he was planning on suing, he should have made the Raiders fire him. Harder to give him the benefit of the doubt since he willfully chose to step down.

This is the new America… say ridiculous things and then sue someone because they exposed them.

Fuck Gruden

No argument, but fuck Goodell, too.

Yep.

Why? Because he said Smith's lips looked like the Michelin Man's? Which they do? You've likely said WAY worse things in your life but now want to condemn others because it's the lib thing to do.

I'm no Liberial but there is a Phrase i heard once in Wrestling and I use it as one of many Mantras

good for gruden

yes, what he said was bad. there were other bad things in the 650,000 emails.

goodell got his feelings hurt and released the emails from the guy who said mean things about him

if he hadnt attacked goodell, nobody would have known about the demaurice smith and michael sam emails

take that motherfucker down with you, chucky.

I made it through law school, and I give this a 80-90% chance the suit is kicked on motions to dismiss. I haven't read the complaint that was filed, but I can't imagine any valid cause of action here for the NFL releasing his emails and not others. Plus, the fact that he resigned won't help him very much. It's hard to sue an employer unless you have race/national origin/sex/gender discrimination, ADA stuff, or the like going on. If he gets the right judge, he could hang on for awhile, but probably would never make it past summary judgment later on. The NFL might want to just settle and make it all go away if it gets past the motion to dismiss stage, though.

@Niner Outlaw , what do you think?

If I'm Goodell, unless I have some serious skeletons in my own closet that he can get to, I am burying him even further. If he wants to be a punk about this, he should get dropped.

But if Gruden can take him down, that would be great too.

The suit alleges that the NFL purposely leaked his emails, and threatened to leak more if he didn't resign.

Unless there's tangible proof to backup those allegations, he's got nothing.
