Im guessing they'd be somewhere between 10-30th in the men's bracket just making a ballpark guess based on nothing.
this is hilarious

I have never understood the King/Riggs argument, @cezero spelled it out perfectly. King was an all time great and in her prime, Riggs was a very good male player who was 30 year past his prime. This, or Johhny Mac playing Serena today, means absolutely nothing.

I still can't figure out what he said that was so wrong. McEnroe didn't bring it up, he was asked to qualify his statement so he did by explaining the best woman still can not beat the best men in their prime. And there should be no question about that.

In fact Serena should really shut her trap seeing as both Sarena and Venus once bragged that they could beat any man ranked outside of the top 200. The guy ranked 203 took them up on it and kicked their ass.

1998: Karsten Braasch (#203) vs. the Williams sisters • r/tennis

1998: Karsten Braasch vs. the Williams sisters Edit Another event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open[34] between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple bottles of ice cold lager".[35][36] The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park,[37] after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two beers. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2.[38] Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance". He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun".[39] Braasch said the big difference was that men can chase down shots much easier, and that men put spin on the ball that the women can't handle. The Williams sisters adjusted their claim to beating men outside the top 350.

I think Mac would beat Serena handily if they played (and Serena wasn't in the family way). Mac still has game.
I disagree with this. Serena would run him all over the court

It isn't sexist to say Men are better than Women at something.

I pee standing up better too... anybody got a problem with that?

riggs was 55 years old at the time, and king was in the prime of her career.

it was a great moment, for sure, but has zero application to how serena would do against ATP pros in the top 500-700.
Disagree that it has zero application. Mac is older than Rigs was but Serena is a little past her prime, so to me it seems like a similar age split. AND, it's a man vs. a women. Seems like apples-to-apples to me.

To be clear I have no problem with what Mac said. He's entitled to his opinion and that's all it is until there's another official man vs. women game/match. I don't think it's sexist nor does it upset me in any way. I just think he's wrong and Serena would be ranked higher than 700 BUT that is just my opinion and I'm entitled to that!!!

incorrect. they both each lost a set when they were 16 yrs old. They didn't play a full match.

Also, they were teenagers
what rank would serena or venus be if they tried the atp?

i want to see just how funny some of you can be.

well seeing that guys like this are in the 500's and haven't won a match, I am not sure. I don't know how rankings work down that low...I don't know shit about the Futures or any other tours.

Wil Spencer | FedEx ATP Win/Loss | ATP World Tour | Tennis

I wouldn't put her high at all. I am just saying I think she wouldn't go 0-for

yeah, beating somebody between 450-500 i could maybe see for serena, or venus in her prime. and only if their serves were at their very best.

that's about as far as i'd go.

i don't think people understand the difference between movement speed around the court for men vs women, even if the woman is serena. looking at serve and groundstroke speeds in isolation is completely useless.

How many great Tennis male players are there right now? The Williams sisters played in better shape than 95%+ of all men so I suspect they'd be able to compete for sure. I think they'd have a hard time hitting the top but Im guessing they'd be somewhere between 10-30th in the men's bracket just making a ballpark guess based on nothing.

IDK about Venus...she's getting on up there herself, but Serena would be much higher than 700.

The big difference in the mens game that she would face imo is most of the serves she would be facing would be as fast or faster than hers...she might have a hard time breaking the opponent's service games to win matches.

I keep thinking of Serena in her prime, not now. Prior to getting knocked up, she was playing great, but it isn't the best version of Serena we have seen, IMO. Give me something like 29 yr old Serena against a ATP player in the 500s and I give it to Serena.

Although, she may have mellowed a bit since turning 30, whcih only helps her.

Name one sport women could do better in than men. There isn't one. It's not sexist, it's realist.

I'm not sure why we are discussing McEnroe playing her or her ranking in the top 700 or higher or whatever. McEnroe said she is not as good as the top men today. For some reason he is getting crap for that and I have no idea why because it's true.
