That's part of why Jim Rutherford screwed up too - he thought the scouts were doing a good job and obviously they weren't, so in reality, Jim Rutherford thought the players he was picking were good and clearly they were not, so it's his fault too

Fact is, he did not do a good job in Carolina like some people thought - that Cup win gave him so much leeway it's not even funny - most other GM's would have been canned sooner than him if they had missed the playoffs year after year like they did after winning the Cup

How is his fault if the young players aren't being developed properly? Once he drafts them, then the rest is up to the AHL -NHL coaches.

He'll be a top candidate no doubt. One thing that he's been mentioned about him in regard to strengths is that he's great at making in game adjustments. That was enough to sell me on him.

Why i think he will is the organization is so high on him (as are others around the league) they don't want to lose him. We'll see.

Yep. Thought the same thing myself. WBS has a way of pumping out coaches though, that's for sure. Outside of him, there's not a experienced (at NHL level) guy that I'm in "love" with. Willie Desjardins in Texas is a big name at AHL level, but it seems like Vancouver is patiently waiting for him to win his Calder again and scoop him up. Rutherford will take his time, he's basically already said that. He has GM stuff until early next week, then they'll start bringing guys in for interviews. I think he wants to get a feel from players/FO/guys who've been in and around the room on what's needed.
