Good recap by George Will and he caps off the piece with a shocking paragraph (if you're a Glendale tax payer)

Warren Meyer of Forbes.com calculates that Glendale's new plan would bring the city's spending to almost $400 million on a team valued at $134 million — a team that has lost money in each of its 15 years here. Glendale's rejoinder to the Goldwater Institute is an attempt at intimidation by lawsuit, which speaks volumes.

Wow. I can't believe this might happen. I'm actually excited for Winnepeg if it can happen. That said, the economy better be stable or else this is pointless. Moving a team to Canada is great...but only if they can afford to keep them long term.

The main concern I have is the escalation of the salary cap. When we came out of the lockout with a $39 million salary cap, I thought okay, we lost a season of hockey, but all teams should be able to handle a salary cap under $40 million. 6 years later and we're looking at a salary cap over $62 million and we have several teams struggling to get to the cap floor.

David Thomson is a smart guy though (you don't get to be one of the world's richest men by luck), the biggest thing is the MTS Centre is bought and paid for, if the Jets are reasonable with ticket prices, they should be fine.

Maybe the Abbotsford Heat should move to Phoenix (Phoenix Heat has a nice ring to it) to make way for the Manitoba Moose to move to Abbotsford.

hockey fans in winnipeg might have the potential work stoppages in other leagues to thank for getting their team back

the networks are fighting over hockey because they have a potential deperate need to fill airtime come November and the price tag is being pushed up and up (can you believe the NHL might be the only pro league operating this November ???? nutso)

this need to lock in sports broadcasting properties is superceding any type of concern that the 9th biggest tv market could be switched out for a "niche" cdn market
