Femur is your upper leg, your thing/hamstring area. Unless I'm seeing something completely different from you, this was pretty clearly below the knee. A compound tib-fib fracture like this is still an obvious season ender, but it's a lot more common and a lot less life threatening.

Sounds like he will be fine. Would probably expect him back some point next year. Saw a MD say his tibia will be stronger than ever once he returns

It is this. Compound fracture but I thought the Hayward injury was worse. Only more significant because of his size.

True. Alex Smith was in the hospital for a couple of months trying to recover from all the complications that resulted from his broken leg.
