I always wondered if they are so concerned about messing up college football schedules to actually have games on friday or saturdays earlier in the season.

The bears giants was the only good game this year so far. but the league cant control that. That bye week to thursday sounds like the smart plan. They were saying that nfl will eventually sell the NFL network and are just trying to get this doubleheader deal to up the price.

Point #1 - the ratings are there. People watch the games and that makes money. Admit it, there are games on Sunday that no one watches just because they get lost in the sauce. Take one of those same games and air on Thursday and now people not only watch but talk about it at the water cooler on Friday.

Point #2 - there is no evidence that Thursday night games cause more injuries.

Point #3 - (more of a theory since I can't prove it), if you gave the players that played on Thursday night more money, they'd suddenly be all for more games.

So when I hear players complain about TNF it's because they feel they're not getting their fair cut.

TNF games themselves, I have no issue with...admittedly it's hit or miss if I watch though. Dbl header though would pretty much have to include a WC home team...they would lose the lionshare of the EC rating power.

I haven't not researched it, but I would be interested in knowing the records of the TNF teams the following week as well.

Nothing wrong with TNF, but I question whether a season long dbl header can work.

Selling the network...I suppose it's possible, but I'm wondering why the owners would want to sell it (aside from making $ of course).

NFL films, TNF, the draft, and combine shows is really the whole network.

College and the NFL have developed this whole teamwork thing.

If the NCAA suspends a guy the NFL will make him sit out a year before entering the draft, as an example.

Each one respects the others turf and that's a good thing.

I'm not sure who the NFL will sell the NFL network to...and will that give XYZ network power in the league? What if XYZ no longer wants to air TNF? Or wants more money than the NFL is willing to give? Will the NFL no longer have TNF if no one is airing the game?

If they managed to schedule better games, I wouldn't complain

FOX, CBS, NBC, and ESPN would never allow that to happen.

Those guys all pay over 8 billion dollars to show games, the NFL Network shows them for "free". You get what you "pay" for... do you think the networks would say thanks for making us pay 8 billion dollars for the shit games while you pick up a bunch of the best money making matchups on your own network?

With that in mind, you can see why the NFL wants Thursday double-headers. They make 100% profit from each game from their advertisement sales considering they don't pay 8 billion dollars to show the game.
