You betcha. Even our local pundits say this is not an elite team. No kidding? But I suppose I would rather follow a team that often plays over their heads than one doesn't perform up to the level of talent on the roster.

My favorite "Skillet Hands" player Fleener came through for really about the first time. Donald Brown? Well, maybe Richardson was a bad move. Hear he has a great video out though.

That Titan defense impressed me. Those guys are fast, physical and good. Still wonder how we did it.

I realize I am answering my own thread, (one of many things that don't bother me) but I am wondering about something some of the better football minds here could help me with. It seems fairly routine that the opposing offense mops up the field with the Colts defense early in the game. Sometimes until half time. I know every team makes adjustments when they go to the locker room, but I cannot figure out why they look so bad in one half and pretty decent in the second one. Ideas?

Yesterday I posted that the Colts seem like the hardest team in the league to predict, since they have some of the most impressive wins in the league so far, but also some losses to teams that don't seem too good. That is, I was referring to the variance of their play between games. Last night, however, they also showed a high level of within game variance. Very nice come back for your Colts. They needed that. Unfortunately for them, TN did too.

Since losing Wayne they went from great to kind of good this year. They need someone to step up and fill that void. They are going to make the playoffs so they have some time to figure that out. I hope they get it done.

Fleener and Brown did that last night. Would definitely be big for Indy if they could get more out of Heyward-Bay and Richardson. But you are right. Replacing the consistency of Wayne is a very tall order.

Heyward-Bey actually caught one ball at least last night. Seems like Richardson is better catching passes than running the ball.

The head scratcher is still the defense though. You would think, based on pure physical talent, they would have less holes than the offense. Sometimes they look pretty good. Others, you wonder why they are on the field. Oh well, I love to watch. Scaled down my expectations a bit, but they are still my team.

That was a big win last night against a pretty good defense on the road. I would be encouraged by that. Had they not come back in the second half, the division would still be very much up for grabs.

True. I suppose I am a bit concerned about the long term. The Colts will likely be in the playoffs. Might even win a game at home. But that will be about it. And they have so many needs on both sides of the ball. I am still sold on Grigson. But he has been far from perfect. Heyward-Bey and Trent Richardson are not all that stellar at this point. I would include Fleener, but he had an impressive game last night. Let's see if he can build any consistency.

I think at least in putting points up in the 1st half a lot of the good quarterbacks take some time to really get going. They are usually trying to feel out how the defense has decided to play them then use half time to make adjustments to beat what has been thrown at them.

Now why the defense struggles so much in the first half I have no clue. They definitely don't look very aggressive to start off the game or at least they didn't last night or the week before.

I think the game said more about the Titans than the Colts. Fitzpatrick really only threw to 2 players throughout the whole game so their offense got predictable. Chris Johnson is the definition of an inconsistent back. The Colts were able to make easy adjustments to the Titans offense and shut them down.

Trent Richardson sucks. Trent Richardson sucks. Trent Richardson sucks.

Luck gets better as the game goes along because he is such a threat with his legs. DHB and Hilton are home run wide receivers so they are obviously not going to be large parts of the offense but they should average a couple of big plays between them. Fleener was Luck's home run target at Stanford but he is new #1 target.

I don't think this trend of bad 1st halfs and good 2nd halfs will continue but their offense probably isnt going to be a model of consistency just due to injuries.
