Looks like the opening day defense is now set.

Safeties- Gipson and Jackson
Corners- Fuller and Johnson
ILBs- Trevathon and Smith
OLBs- Mack and Quinn
DLine- Hicks, Nichols, and RRH

I like the way that looks. If JJ is decent, that team is going to be very hard to pass against.

Most worried about Robert Quinn laying a big fat egg with new contract.

Just bugs me that Goldman sat out because this was about to be a dream defense. Not that Nichols can't be a very good replacement, but you still lose the depth at the DE position.

Yeah, that would suck and is always possible. However, it will be hard for Quinn not to be an upgrade from what we've had opposite of Mack from a pass rushing perspective. Floyd had 7 sacks in two years combined.

Yeah, it's almost impossible for Quinn not to play at the very least up to Floyd's standards, which of course is not saying much. My biggest concern on the defensive side of the ball in this opening week is knowing that the Lions are going to target JJ virtually all game. The pass rush overall will have to step up and I'm sure JJ will get some safety help, altho that opens up other areas for the Lions receivers.

I would have liked to see Nichols focus on DE opposite Hicks with Goldman in the middle. That had the potential to be really nasty. Instead, Nichols needs to play out of his natural position. Damnit Eddie Goldman you got duped by the plandemic.

Bears coach Matt Nagy had this to say when asked about OLB Robert Quinn (ankle), who's doubtful for Week 1: "I think frustration is probably a good word. I know how Robert is as a person. When you know who he is, he's pretty laidback but he's old school, too. He's really old school in his mentality of how he approaches things. It's where we're at. We'll see. He's doubtful, but things can change, so you don't know where things are at, but we'll see."

This does not sound good. Robert Quinn is looking more and more like a giant mistake.

I'm far from being ready to write off Quinn's signing as a mistake. But when you're officially listed as doubtful on a Friday, that pretty much says there's zero chance he'll even suit up, let alone play on Sunday. That sucks.

Not sure missing 1 game makes it a mistake. If it becomes multiple and he underperforms when he does play then that’s another story.

I like the kid.

Looks like we're going to stick to this revolving door of RBs too. Or maybe it had to do with easing Montgomery in. At any rate, Cohen, Patterson, and Montgomery couldn't be any more different type of runners.

Johnson is a rookie played like a journeyman during the game. What rookies manage even that level of ability? This kid has a high ceiling! It is looking good for him and Mooney.

Jaylon was my favorite pick of this draft and so far he's looking legit.
