I had been thinking the same thing since mid-season. We got a lot of breaks this year. When compared to other teams our injuries were nothing. When I saw a punt land at the Lions 1/2 yard line and bounce back I just had the feeling it was our year for breaks. But the magic ran out and even though I think they will be better next season it's highly unlikely that they return to the NFC Championship Game.It is entirely possible this is a better team with a worse record next year. Washington had a lot of things go right this year. Nabors dropping a pass that cost NY, Hail Mary, Smith dropping a pass that would have won the game for Philly in game 2. They play a tougher schedule next year.
I am not trying to be negative, just realistic. If AP does a great job in the off season I think they can be a perennial 10 game winner. AP knows more than anyone on this site so I will wait to see what he does. This team got a lot out of a little this year.
Jayden had a great year and should only get better with experience. DQ and his staff did a fantastic job this past year. Josh has proved to be a good owner. It has been way more fun than I expected this year. My one bummer was this last game. We didn't just lose, we got boat raced. Jayden averaged 5.3 yards per pass, Robinson hand no room to run, Terry had one good play but was largely shut down and of course 4 TOs is way too many. The defense was a disaster in the NFC game.
There is no reason not to think we can’t get back there next season . We have a good staff and FO and we have a real good assessment of what holes we need to fillI had been thinking the same thing since mid-season. We got a lot of breaks this year. But what this means is for the first time in 30 years we will enjoy an offseason and opening game knowing that now we are a contender. Every game will be a big game again as long as Jayden Daniels is our QB.
