Anybody disrupting the trenches like that is bound to make the back seven look better.

It is interesting how Suh wasn't so disruptive until Bo came though.......that's what I don't understand.

When you are a natural beast like that, you should just be good........but instead, as a Sophomore he blended right in with the regulars, and damn-neared quit the team when he found out Bo was taking over.

Somehow Bo and Carl turned him into that player he was for us.

Evans is good but I don't think he's quite as good as Hagg was frankly.

If Bo places most of his value on safeties, Nickel seems to be a close second for him.

He gushed about Hagg more than any other DB we've had... Next to Ciante.

No, they were great players. Just saying that having a Suh up-front leads to better attitudes.

Ideally he has one destroyer, and 3 role players on D-Line, an all american or at least all conference MIKE and a minimum of 3 future NFL DB's. That is the formula.

It's talent...... Bo had talent defense wise when he came in it just took at year for the team to learn his defense 08 =Learning 09=giving offense the business. That 09 team had talent that is in the NFL and all the components needed for a good defense. Dt that wreaks havoc aka suh lock down corners so that you can blitz more in prince and Zo. Hybrid backers from Dillard to Gomes/hagg violent safety in Asante that 09 defense was how bama is now

What some forget 08-09 key player weren't all of Bo recruits and were from the other coach I won't name. Now he did get some key juco in David and Gomes but majority wernt all his recruits.

Bo down played suh and David role but they were one of the biggest eraser and savior on Bo defense without suh in 09.. Ugly bc the offense was inept. David saved us in 10-11 with making space tackles ESP in the big12 where one on one tackles are so important. But if your remember bo said defense would be better without suh.. That was lie. 2012 we saw big huge runs that David locked up the previous years. No wonder both started as rookies in the NFL.

To answer the question both are right. Pj is right as players quit bc they didn't respect nor have confidence in the coaches and schemes. I don't blame them I think bo defense is to hard for the avg player to understand. Bo doesn't like to adjust and fails to see his top defense were EXTREMELY TALENTED. Can't coach up and teach a complicated defense that need a playmakers or all 11 players to be on the Same page.

The whole quitting showed in the wisky game... That team that struggle in nearly every game put 70 on you?! Defense quit and coaches couldn't get them back and as coaches they have to connect or get guys that buy into their teachings.

All In all this makes sense and the scary part is this isn't going to be fixed bc we don't have a talented dline and we don't know who else doesn't believe in bo player wise. Good thing is defense is young and as potential playmakers but Bo honeymoon is up 9-10 might keep some fans happy but eventually trophies will need to come. Just my 2 cents

Bo 2 gap system only works if you have a suh like player. DT in that system do all the dirty work so LB can shine suh was so good bc he was putting up lb like sack number and blocking and wrecking OL. Most dt are taught to go wreak havoc any means possible not in Bo system and top dt see that and say heck no ill go SEC where they let top players do whateve as long as stats are produce.

Bo defense needs cerebral players or top talent.. Aka suh Gomes David's hagg Asante. Wha pj says is scary bc 07 defense quit on BC and we say similar like numbers to that same effect.

I said it in the CBS that if no can't get suh like player junk the two gap system ESP if the lb are slow and not athletic. I'm praying the young defense isn't like last years players.

Maybe I'm just walking out in the woods, but I would assume that any player that is committed to playing football has the ultimate goal of playing professionally. I'm sure many realize that they won't have a chance to play on Sundays, but they are striving to. It makes no sense to me to give up on yourself because you don't like the coaches. With that attitude, you might as well pack your shit up and go home. They can do that the first year. But; like anything else, there's a douche bag out there who thinks he's Primma Donna and let's the rest of the team and those players who do want to achieve a dream down.

That was kind of the point... blkflag alluded to it. Bo can't coach guys up. Needs elite talent or the whole thing folds like a cheap suit.

"Defensive geniuses" don't need elite talent at every level of the defense to make it work.

I think we dropped the genius moniker a couple hundred days ago anyway.
