They initially offered less than the cardinals actually. In the end Hayward took a discount to play with the Cubs. I think the discount came from what Washington was offering though.

Not a big fan of Heyward offense. Obviously he's a great defensive player. Waiting to see the numbers on this deal

Yeah, I thought they were already mentioned. I think it's a good deal considering that it seemed like everyone wanted him. He'll be 34 during the last year, so he could be very effective for most of it. He gives the Cubs what they need on both sides. He becomes the best outfielder on defense. He may not have a ton of power on offense, but the Cubs need a patient hitter that can get on base. Heyward and zobrist will get on base. They got smoked by the mets last year because just about everyone on the Cubs was trying to hit home runs every at bat. Zobrist and Heyward won't do that in the same situations. The Cubs have enough power anyway.
