That was a good post and I agreed. Using him as a wrecking ball is only going to give them at best 8-10 games this year.

It really is pathetic to think he is Bell, which he isn't, who has that great ability to avoid contact even in tight spaces.

Don't think anyone expected him to replace Bell. Maybe just said out of spite during the Bell holdout, but we did expect the coaches to use him better than they did last year. After a hot start Fichtner decided to unleash the passing game of 50-60 attempts per game and leave Conner on the bench. Made no sense.

Oh yeah, I guess where I was going is with the play calling on the run plays. They worked for Bell due to this style and the lack of adjustment for Conner's style is laughable.

Yea I totally agree there. Same with the WRs. Fichtner is calling a lot of iso plays expecting his players to have the same talent as Bell & AB. Basically calling vanilla schemes hoping for his players to bail them out and look good. Fichtner looks to have learned from his mistakes. Pity it took a full game & a half for him to finally adjust. Jury is still out on the running game though. Something is clearly amiss without Nix in the fold. And the O-line isn't as consistent.

More than anything it goes to show that the #runningbacksdontmatter... and paying them is hard to justify. Unless you are Christian McCaffrey.

Is it possible that we can admit what only I've been able to see since we drafted him? James Conner was a bust. He can't stay healthy. He's fragile. Time to move on.
