This could be on of the dominoes that decides where Kovalchuk lands. E4

Is a Shark for 1 year at $600K per Andy Strickland. (Thanks Slim)

I like the signing. Gives the Sharks some cheap 4th Line depth just in case Frasier McLaren isn't ready (although I think he is.....the kid is tough as nails and can play a little too). I know he was horrid with the Leafs, but he didn't seem to get along with Grandpa Ron Wilson. Didn't he play better for the Flames Dash?

I thought he was a better player than what he showed on the Leafs. Don't know what was wrong.
Seemed pretty invisible in Calgary to my eye, but that team was a bit of a clusterfuck, too.
he was much more effective in St Lou (10 goals, a ton of hits, a few fights), but that was a couple of years ago now.

in short.... dunno :)

Gotcha. Yea, he was gawdawful on the Leafs, I remember thinking "what the fuck happened to this guy"? My (faulty) memory made me think that he got a little better on the Flames. This is most likely a replacement for Dan Ortmeyer, so as long as he blocks shots and hits, then he should fill the shoes.

He'll give you some grit and pretty good checking/grinding forward. He's getting up there in age, though...

I'll take that as a nice way of saying "no". Thanks for being polite though Dash, lol.

The judges also would have accepted Joel Otto. Joel Otto.

Yeah, I'm not to sure what he has left to offer but at 600K for one year I don't think there is any risk. If he can grind on an energy line and throw the body around I will be satisfied. Chip a couple goals in here or there and I'll be happy as a pig in shit.

I thought that McLaren would take that role but management must not think he is ready for full time shifts. I still think Frazer have spot duty this year as injury replacement and extra grit.
