I think you misunderstood me miked. I'm actually ok with the name calling. It doesn't come out often, but people react like its the end of the world. We're all grown men, who gives a shit, really? And just recently principal has been doing the very thing he said has made one look foolish and unintelligent. It's very ironic, and hilarious at the same time.

My main point is, there are many conversations on here, and I feel the name calling only comes out when people get frustrated trying to explain and explain over and over and people just don't get it. Or maybe there's other reasons. People react differently to being annoyed with another poster. Some ignore, some call names. If the name calling bothers u(and by you I mean anyone on the board), then maybe just skip over those posts? I dunno.

I have no problem hearing about the faults of the team. But I don't tolerate base-less crap such as "so and so sucks" without any sort of reasoning, just misplaced anger at all our loosing. The need for scapegoats is apparently very strong in Lions nation.

Notice how I never get bent out of shape about anyone calling Raiola out? Or Peterman? Justin Durant? As long as the claim is either just or at least well supported I have no problem with hearing the negative stuff about our team.

Since you're so keen on pointing out my issues- let's talk about the way your stubborn refusal to even attempt to see any other opinions besides your own keeps the other posters from taking you seriously, shall we?

Or perhaps we can talk about your snide comments designed to draw a response, the ones you think we're not smart enough to catch because you have a massive superiority complex. You've already admitted that you can't work for others because of your ego, so maybe that's a good discussion to have as to why people on here don't take you as seriously as your Lions-related knowledge would otherwise dictate?

Nice can of worms you decided to open up here, hey?

Haha, nice.

I've had that issue ever since the CBS board. That guy who thought he was Vince Vaughn corrected me on it as well. He had a great little mental device for it- "I don't mind losing my loose change."

Apparently it's not sinking in though...

I guess that is where we differ. Grown men should be able to have grown men discussions without it turning into an elementary school argument. With TP, he is usually the first one throwing out the childish barbs and then at the end of the discussions wants to play it off as he has no clue how the thread got out of control.

I have no idea when or where his initial argument with Principal started, but I would guess TP started in with the childish barbs and that is how the whole fiasco blew up into these long drawn out threads or pointless ramblings.

I do have to say though -- I enjoyed sitting back and reading all the arguing, even though I was thrown into the middle. Once the little guy gets settled in to a regular schedule, I'm sure I will be back on here and arguing with TP like normal.

If someone feels a player on the Lions sucks -- they have every right to state as much. You take those comments as personal shots at you and defend the person, as if it is your own blood or something.

I'm sure many comments have a lot to do with the losing the organization has done over the past 5 decades. I'm sure a lot of fans are fed up with the stigma of losing that goes along with the franchise.

I have more to say, but have to put the little guy down for his nap. I will try and get back out later to respond some more.

I think your disdain for TP blinded you on this one. It was around page 5 or 6 on the Mayhew thread and principal came in and just made outrageous claims about the team. TP actually was respectful in his replies, and even said he didn't know him so he wasn't sure if he should take him serious. Principal was however, new to the board so it was understandable.

I know you loved seeing someone else argue with TP, and u kinda acted like a child getting an ice cream cone, but I assure you, if u read his initial responses, you'd see it happened much differently.

I really wonder if there's anyway we could all go back and act like we don't know anything about each other? Give peace a chance? ;)

See, now that's just your opinion, and it's a clearly biased opinion since you're the other party in said argument. I've already mentioned that it's your condescending attitude that causes me to respond with the name calling. In my opinion when you talk to someone the way you often do it's an insult just the same as me calling you a derogatory name.

When you respond to someone's post that you disagree with with a "lol" followed by a short, dismissive comment that's insulting to others. I'm sorry if you don't see that, but I'm not the only one who notices.

You'd guess wrong, then. Principal came out and said that he didn't like my "sunshine" attitude so he purposefuly made a trolling post trash-talking our players, and I took offense to it (shocker, right?).

Once the little guy gets settled in to a regular schedule, I'm sure I will be back on here and arguing with TP like normal.

Looking forward to it.

Honest question here for anyone. How could principal not like TP's "sunshine" attitude, when he didn't even know him? I could've sworn his posts in the Mayhew/Schwartz thread were his first ones? How could he have formed an opinion on him if he was brand new to the 'Hoop and had previously posted a ton on espn? Do I have that timeline correct? If I'm wrong and he's known him before, then I retract my initial question.

Just looking for some insight to how he hated TP so much without much to go on?

I never said they didn't have the right to, not at all. But if they are going to trash talk and make confrontational comments about it I have every right to respond. Who are you to tell me that people have the right to post their opinions about our team and our players, but I don't have the right to post my opinion on their thoughts? If you don't want your thoughts scrutinized and/or criticized then don't post them, simple as that. This is a public forum, you're posting your thoughts for everyone to see, so you can't complain if some of us don't like them, that's just how it works.

I'm sure many comments have a lot to do with the losing the organization has done over the past 5 decades. I'm sure a lot of fans are fed up with the stigma of losing that goes along with the franchise.

So the answer is to take it out on current players who don't necessarily deserve it? I don't get all the anger, grow the fuck up about it already. It's a fucking game, and meant to be fun. If all of the losing has you jaded then stop following the team, it's having the total opposite of it's intended effect...

The 'sunshine' comment explains why people thought Principal was me, as that is a comment I have used in the past, though not in that context.

And if you guys say I am wrong and Principal actually started in with the name calling -- I apologize. It was nothing more than an assumption on my part and I take it back. As I said -- I haven't been following the board as closely as I did a couple months ago. I usually just try and catch up on some threads I see that are getting alot of action.

Once again -- that is opinion based. If someone says "insert lions players name" sucks, that is how they feel. just because you are a fan of the lions doesn't mean you have to think every player is great and every move the team made is going to take them over the top.

Being critical of the team you love just shows you want to see something done to make them better. It isn't a knee jerk reaction to 50 years of ineptitude. Obviously, nothing we say on this board is going to make the front office do anything different, but it is a forum where you can get out your feelings on the team and certain players. So -- the "grow the fuck up" comment really goes both ways. You get bent out of shape for the slightest reasons, for example, someone posts LeShoure sucks and you went off on the guys as if he called your mom ugly. When someone makes a comment regarding the Lions or a player on the team, you take it personal for some reason, and it has nothing to do with you personally.

I think TP just has that effect on people. And while I agree he was respectful in his initial posts, he uses the same 'condescending posts' he is overly critical to me about, like this one:

If your'e not trying to mess with us, I'd suggest that you start watching Lions games, not getting 4th rate info from a guy you work with whose cousin's girlfriend's brother in law has season tickets...

Smitty said to look thru pages 6 and 7, but my ADD kicks in and I can't help but skim the posts instead of reading everything to get a better overall view. I really think I should get put on some adderall to fix my ADD.

I will just take everyone's word and let you guys hash out this argument for now. I'm just enjoying being on the sidelines for this one.

I definitely started the name calling. I just feel that it is completely justified given the trash-talk being thrown around...

The difference is that I was purposefully condescending to a guy who was going out of his way to talk trash and piss me off. You see something that you randomly don't like and try to belittle posters who hadn't even been engaged in debate with you...

Then I don't have to change my screen name, as I was right to begin with.:yahoo:
