The way i look at it the Pens really don't have anything to lose. A 1 year deal, not giving up any assets to get him. His immaturity and enigmatic personality seem to be a thing of the past. Putting him with either Malkin or Crosby will open up room for either one of them on the ice. He can't hurt the PP any worse than it was last season.

To me, it would be 2M well spent. (if it happens)

I don't know, but I'd rather give Thomas Fleischmann that contract. If he's completely recovered the Pens could have the steal of the market.

I don't know what his experience is playing wing, but we definitely don't need another center, he would probably get more than we could afford, I'm assuming he would want more than a one year deal, and honestly I've never been impressed.

Jagr can be a game changer. Even at his age, everyone was impressed with his performance at Worlds.

I just don't get why age is such a huge factor. Older players have made big impacts. It's not like the Pens are rumored to be offering him four million. Two million seems completely reasonable for a vet with some scoring touch and PP abilities.

Do you think 40-50 points is unreasonable? Just asking if you think he would be a complete flop? Because if you think he can score in that range, I don't see why anyone would be against this deal...the Pens are short on pure skill sans Crosby and Malkin. Recchi scored seven points in seven games in the finals. I'm guessing he's slower than Jagr, though the last time I saw Jags play was the Olympics.

Completely disagree. Please tell me who scored for the Penguins in games six and seven when they won the Cup? Jordan Staal, Tyler Kennedy, Max Talbot. Secondary scoring can be huge during the playoffs when teams put their entire focus on shutting down Crosby and Malkin. Another 40-50 point player isn't going to hurt.

Uh...what? 71 points in 82 games isn't shabby. We're not expecting 90's Jagr. He was what...36 when he did that? 35?

I just don't understand how you don't do this from the Penguins perspective. It's like the Kovy trade (and Jagr has more motivation); there was so little risk. That was almost worst case scenario, and I would still do that trade ten out of ten times. I mean, Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis was arguably one of the best first lines in the NHL this past season prior to Crosby's injury. You really don't think Jagr was a step up from Dupuis?

I understand the hesitation with the KHL, but it's not like the Pens need him to a be regular season superstar.

And you keep bringing up different things without addressing anyone's rebuttals. Why is he not worth two million?

Hang around on the red line and wait for a outlet so you can skate in alone on the goalie. For all the Jagr lovers...I have seen 12 games live that he played and not once did he go back to his defensive zone. Good luck Pens if you get this frak. I would rank you 4 less cause of his diva drama.

Jagr has 181 playoff points in 169 career playoff games. Obviously, not saying he would be a PPG playoff performer these days, but it hardly suggests that he's a guy who doesn't care when the games count. Some of you are completely exaggerating any personality issues.

The Penguins have a glut of defensive-minded forwards and 7 defensemen who can all handle themselves in their own zone (for the most part). What they don't have is finishers, especially on the wings. He's a complementary player to the current team. The Penguins have won Stanley Cups in the past with floaters (with Jagr, in fact). They can do it again.

Besides, Bylsma's shown a knack for getting players to buy into his system. Even Kovalev (huge offensive disappointment aside) would come back a play defense with Bylsma at the helm.

I think he looks at the NHL and the crackdown on interference and of course high hits and thinks now he can compete with no worries about being hammered. I think he is 2 steps slower and will get hammered.

I said earlier I never liked him and dont know either. He is setting himself up for a major injury and to ride the pine for most of his contract.

Ha. Okay. Wish I knew you in real life. Not going to say injuries won't occur because I can't predict that, but I am willing to bet he scores 40-50 points playing 75+ games and 30-40 points playing 60+ games.

His attitude never affected that dressing room from what I hear from people who were actually in the locker room.

Typical from a drama queen like Jagr. He will have a Pens uniform on this year for sure. For the Pens fans sake i hope he knows he is not the man. Sid is by far. If Jagr does not play in the corners like he never did in years past he will end up hated. This NHL is not about gliding around anymore.
