Jagr reaches out to Penguins - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Jagr could be signed by anyone because he doesn't have an NHL contract from last season, however he WOULD have to go through waivers to get back into the league, unless it's done after the July 1st starting time. SO, I doubt he'll sign with any NHL team before July 1st because most teams would probably rather not chance him getting stolen.

I really want him back on the Pens. I think he will have a chip on his shoulder because of all the doubters who think he can't play.

I like this top six:

Kunitz-Crosby-Jagr
Neal-Malkin-Kennedy

Know what's funny, if ESPN cared about the NHL this story would be brought up every ten minutes on Sportscenter.

If Jagr brings back the mullet of his, that top line won't work - Kunitz is a convicted hair puller.

Bringing back Jagr, if only for the sake of the PP, would be worthwhile. Of course, this all depends on how much money he's looking for.

With the cap rising so much, we could afford him I think. I mean I highly doubt some team is going to drop 4-5 mill on him.

I wouldn't mind paying him 2-3.

I used to have a Jagr watch, but everytime I went out on the road, it stopped working...

Did it also stop working when you would stop off in DC?

I'd love to see the Pens get him and watch OV do this...

No player I hate more than Jaromir Jagirl. He killed us when he was on the Pens, he killed us when we acquired him (underachieved to a legendary degree), and he killed us even after he was gone (with his salary hit).

Looking around at some other boards, people seem to be speculating that Jagr would get 4-5 million, so perhaps I am way off with 2-3. I really don't know how many teams would pay him that though. Certainly, the Pens cannot afford it.

I could see mid 3s to low 4s as a top, but 5? Seems like a lot.

I hope he ends up in Pittsburgh.....I really do. If anything can demolish that locker room.....

The 2011 NHL is too fast for Jagr anyway.

Jagr will do well in a supporting role if he ends up in the NHL again.

You really think that's how fragile our locker room is?

No. I really think th is how pathogenic Jagr will be going back to a "supporting role" at a franchise that he was part of makin great. I don't think Crosby is a vocal enough leader to stand up to him and I think he can have an effect on a young and very good coach along with an assortment of the younger players (Malkin, Michalek, Neal etc...)

This is not a knock on the pens or Crosby, it is a knock on Jagr. But anything that hurts a competitor would make me happy so I hope it happens.

I hope it happens - a knock, anything, that hurts Jagr, the pens, or Crosby would make me so happy.

^I used your same words but copied/pasted them in a different order. ;)

Glen Sather on line 1.

I think the locker room is very strong. And I really don't think he's the prima donna he once was. And there's NO WAY he'll get that money from anyone. I think the MOST he gets is 3.5, and I hope at the least the Pens inquire. Because his talent could be exactly what we need. Not a big minutes guy, but one who can play on the PP and be effective. I'm sorry, but the thought of his talent and puck possession ability working with Malkin (who really would benefit most with a guy like him) is exciting.
