I was trying to ironically over-think on over-thinking. Or overthink on underthinking. But yes, I'm in a weird mood and don't even mention the Sun Bowl.
Yup! But for a time machine, brother.
Amen & Salute!
The team said that even if Jacobs were to be claimed by another team off waivers, he would not be eligible to play during the postseason and only once the Super Bowl was done -- so, that certainly came into the timing of the move.
Brandon Jacobs waived by San Francisco 49ers - ESPN
If you watched the preseason, Jacobs, pre-injury, seemed to have a clear role on the team as a short yardage back. Maybe Harbaugh didn't like his rehab commitment or work ethic post injury and sat him in the doghouse but in the pre-season Jacobs was pretty successful in the short yardage situations the team put him in before his injury.
pretty sure we read about how Jacobs had his best off season? he lost weight and worked on his explosion?
initially, it had to be his performances in practice? my guess is he just didn't live up to Baalke's expectations? sure his attitude had to have contributed some as it went on, but if he was really able to perform they'd have played him.
I don't know. Remember the first exhibition game when he busted off some real good runs in the first couple of drives. He got hurt immediately after that and never got back in the lineup. I suspect it was more of a Braylon Edwards-type thing where Harbaugh didn't think he was rehabbing hard enough.
