Tempered your expectations eh. How can we not? Been that kind of season, albeit, still early enough to have some light though.

But you know, just like tonight, I'm anxious to see Sardinas play at SS and how he handles the bat outta the # 2 hole. And it's a make it or be gone year for MM, do we really have 3 potential catchers now, will Martin continue to grow in center and become more disciplined at the plate, etc. Lord knows we're auditioning for the rotation long term.

Lot of things to keep us interested, at least I hope so.
Lot of good observations to be made and Rev's over views will contribute nicely. Hope he gets on the observation post with us. In the meantime, I'm sure everyone will be watching the 2 hole tonight. If Sardi is not the guy, go to the next guy till someone steps up.

The catchers race is becoming interesting. Was not expecting Giminez to do as well as he has. Really like the guy's bat. Soto's future is shakey with the injury he's had. Not what a catcher needs. Could be interesting.

That's an interesting observation about the # 2 spot. Sometimes it's just the process of elimination. IMO the Rangers don't have to know who should bat # 2; just be sure who shouldn't. Go from there.

For being terrible. Probably just an excuse to not let him pitch for a while.

:laugh3:

Seriously, does a team have to provide a doctors opinion to the league office in order to place a guy on the DL?

They can probably make up nearly anything. Call it dead arm or shoulder soreness. I don't think the MLBPA would really even care.

edit.
In this case it is elbow inflammation.

OK.....sorry, but let me ask another technical question. Are teams limited to the number of players they can have on the 15 day, 60 day DL at any given time? I wonder if this can't become a way just to stock pile players.

Not trying to bog this conversation down. I'll stop after this.

I was a little late on the Ogando news. I forgot to refresh before posting. Ogando will probably continue to have arm problems because of his release. Just chalk it up to another pitcher lost. This staff is going to need a major over haul in the off-season. Jackson and Chi Chi might get a shot next year. Well, maybe too early for Chi Chi. I don't think Colby or Harrison will be in the rotation. Perez will miss half the year. So we have 2 legitimate ML starters next year. JD is going to have to get creative.

The Marlins raised some eyebrows by trading their Competitive Balance draft pick (No. 39 overall) to the Pirates last week in exchange for right-hander Bryan Morris and using the extra cash to sign Kevin Gregg. However, the team almost made an even larger acquisition, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, who reports that Miami nearly sent the pick to the A’s in exchange for fallen closer Jim Johnson.
Oakland was willing to make the deal, according to Rosenthal, and they were also willing to pay a chunk of the nearly $6.5MM remaining on Johnson’s salary, with Miami including another player and remaining on the hook for at least the $1.4MM total of the draft slot. Ultimately, however, the Marlins went a different route.

Damn the Miami FO is dumb.

I think the following: Jackson, for sure, gets a look in ST to make a spot next season......Harrison should be considered gone forever. If we get something ever, it's a blessing for both. But he's gone.......Jury is out on Colby. Can still be a serviceable pitcher; perhaps.......Now, let's see what Tep/Martinez can do........I'd count on zero from Perez for next season. He may pitch. But don't count on him to come back strong, late next season.......Holland will be terrific.

So, for next season: Yu, Holland, Tep, Martinez, ???? with Colby, Jackson in the mix. Doesn't look like world beaters to me.

So your point about finding a solid starter is more than valid.

I guess some really believed Harrison would be back this year in the rotation. I never did. Sorry I was right. Two major back surgeries is almost too much to over come but Matt gave it his best. Good man and we will miss him.

Made a comment last night about his delivery. His arm is not always extended and has a wip-like action to it. But we cannot ever demote pitchers anyway so we just put them on the DL.

Have not been seeing Gimenez much lately.

Guess that's going to have to be proved to Harry. Hence the operation yesterday. He's going to make the effort to come back from this, God bless him. Everybody will be behind him. I hope he makes it.
