Yes they did but there’s a huge difference, Rosen was an immediate bust, Penix looked very promising in the games he started at the end of last season and the Falcons have a lot of confidence in him, there’s absolutely no chance we take a QB in the first round given that we just drafted our franchise QB last season and need big improvements on D. So it was an absolutely idiotic comment.
No disagreement incredibly foolish comment and as mentioned even worse than assuming we will wait on QB since we still have Watson.

What the Browns do will be very interesting - I think it will be either Shedeur or Carter, I’m leaning towards thinking they’ll take Shedeur right now but if they aren’t sold on him/think Carter is a can’t miss pick, they’ll take Carter. What they do will affect the rest of the draft as if they take Carter, I think another team will trade up for Shedeur, I don’t see him falling outside the top 10, I bet the Jets take him if he’s available at 7, Fields isn’t a franchise QB. Saints would probably take him if he’s available at 9 as well.
The Falcons going mainly D though is one of the most obvious parts of this year’s draft - we’re set on O pretty much, but we need help on D, particularly at edge rush and corner.

This first comment is tied to the person you are responding to in Rosen was taken on year and the very next year Arizona took Murray.
Part of this is also the Cardinals having the #1 overall pick is very different than having say pick 15. You don't have the top pick in the draft very often so even if they liked Rosen you don't pass on a QB you think could be your franchise guy for the next 10-15 years. QB isn't a position you can be ok just liking the guy.

Falcons are about as far from any team in the league right now of using a 1st round pick on QB as there is in the league right now.

Good points......now if they had Penix and maybe an Andrew Luck type was coming out and they picked #1............?

No clue what we will do which is how it should be. Guess is also Shedeur. Used to think Carter if not but now leaning more to Hunter. Injury might scare them off.

Also don't see Shedeur slipping to far if we don't take him.

Of course at that point you have to consider it. If you ever think you can find an upgrade at your QB position then you take that risk. Too many teams get stuck in that place of mediocrity and being afraid to take a risk when they have a QB that is in the 15-20 range of rankings. I would say outside of about 8 teams in the league they should always be looking at the QB's in the draft and making sure if that guy is there whether they would be an upgrade or not.

Right now Sanders is not better than Penix. Or at least the difference is negligible between the two so stick with what you got and try to build around him.

As of right now I’m thinking Hunter goes to the G-Men. He would be a great fit there either at receiver or corner as they need a boost at both. It will be interesting though if the Browns take Shedeur whether the Giants go Hunter or Carter, they need help at receiver and corner way more than edge rush but if they think Carter is the best player who knows.

Totally agree. If you have a QB you like but are not thinking can be elite and a Luck or Burrow is there for you? Have to take him. Sanders is not that guy and no way Atlanta is going QB early.

There are other teams outside of the top-3 that I could see being very interested in Sanders. Saints with Carr not really being their future. Maybe 49ers even with Purdy not signed long-term. Could trade him while resetting things with a rookie QB contract. Dolphins with the extensive injury history of Tua. I would bet on those teams having a very hard look at him and if he makes it out of the top-3 thinking long and hard about it.

Definitely agree about the Saints - if he’s available for them there’s a good chance they take him. Disagree about the Niners, I think they are sticking with Purdy. Fins maybe, given Tua’s injuries, but they need help on O-Line and D so I don’t see them taking a QB high this year.

Agree other than 49ers and Purdy....think they extend him.

I was more throwing out teams around the Falcons that I think would have more interest than them in Sanders. Agree I doubt most of them even the Saints would actually take him.

I'm with you. I do think the 49ers get something done. Just pointing out some teams that could have some interest to think through is it better to keep Purdy, pay him huge money, and draft someone or is it better to take Sanders and use that extra $45 million a year to help fill out the roster around Sanders?

I actually think there’s a decent chance the Saints take Shedeur if he’s available - they are stuck in subpar mediocrity right now and Carr will never lead them out of it, they’ll need a franchise QB very soon. They have a lot of defensive needs as well, so they’ll likely go D if Shedeur is off the board but if he’s there they might take him.
The Falcons are one of the last teams that would take a QB high right now, none of the 6 teams that drafted QBs last season will be taking a QB high right now.

Tough to predict an entire 1st round, congrats for giving it a shot. While I continue believing the Raiders will take Jeanty with the 6th pick, if by chance he's still on the board when the Bears select at 10, I'd lay down major coin that they'll take him.

The Saints I don't think would take him because of their GM. He has a very bad view of what kind of situation his team is in and will want to be winning right away. Sanders doesn't help with that. Loomis has always been obsessed with winning in the upcoming season at the expense of future years. It is why he has always been so aggressive with trade ups during his time with the Saints.

Agreed - if Jeanty is still on the board at 10 the Bears snag him. But I bet the Raiders take him at 6. The Bears will probably go O-Line or edge rush at 10
