Yeah, I was a huge fan of Pendleton's Whiskey (which was also in the low $30's range). I just saw the Snake River one and thought I'd give it a shot (pun not intended). It was ok, but I just may drive the extra mile to get my Pendleton's. The closest grocery store stopped carrying it.

how many cubes and how big are they do you put in when adding ice? do you add ice for the water to melt into it or to just keep it cool? if not for water get whiskey soap stones and keep them in the freezer. they are actually stone and stay cold longer and dont melt to add water (I prefer a sniff of water in some scotch to release the flavour a little more especially smokey ones)

That's pretty cool, thanks Matt. Usually I have to dig into my wifes purse to find my stones.....

Usually I do two (ice tray size) ice cubes, but I'm far from a whiskey connoisseur. I'm open to any recommendations you have. I usually like adding a little ice just because it seems to bring out a little taste/smoothness, but it could just be my imagination.

best value I have ever found for the best taste is Macallans 12 yr old.

I may get some whiskey stones as well. I like my whiskey chilled, but I hate when it gets watered down from ice cubes.

yep. nice pick up. smoky and peaty. I would add a small splash (I mean a splash) of water to open up the smoke. Im jealous. enjoy
