The new season has started off strong. The first episode where they pranked Dee was a riot. And I really enjoyed the most recent episode about winning an award. It wasn't overly funny, but what I enjoyed was how metta it was. They were basically bitching about why other comedies have won awards and they haven't. The Sudz bar was a total takedown of the generic sitcom crap you see on CBS and such that win award after award

The first season was good, but the addition of Devito made the show great. I've been a fan since the beginning... I'm only in the 7th season and almost to the 8th.

I loved the episode called "The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention" or something along those lines... (kudos to Wyoh!) Or "the Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore".

"God dammit Frank! Eating your drinks??? That's genius!"... "Isn't this nice... Warm sun... Cool ocean breeze... Gettin' RIPSHIT on ham!"

Painfully awesome you mean?

Season 1 was a completely different show, but it was absolutely awesome. It was a lot more grounded and felt more real. I think the show was at its peak in Season 2-3, but Season 1 is right up there. It's still great, but the characters have become a little too over the top/characaturish, but it's still great and the best comedy on TV easily.

Maybe it's just not your cup of tea.

This is what I an settling on. I typically don't like embarrassingly stupid slapstick comedy. These characters are all supposed to be so stupid they need to be reminded to breath in the morning, and this gets them into awkward, embarrassing situations.

AD, while having equally as (or more so, maybe) stupid characters, had dialogue that was do deep and funny on multiple layers that it trumped the idiocy (and the fact that we were supposed to understand that they were stupid).
