Against all odds, Sizemore was named the Red Sox centerfielder today.

He was brought in to give rookie Jackie Bradley a little push, but has played well and passed every physical test. It'll be fun to see if he can recapture some of his past prowess.

If Sizemore stays healthy and plays like he used to, Boston got a very good deal to replace Ellsbury. Amazing story of perseverance after undergoing microfracture surgery on both knees and missing two entire seasons.

He could be a solid sleeper in fantasy if he continues hitting.

Breaking down his contract:

He was guaranteed $750k.

He just earned $250k for making the team. ($1m)

He can earn an additional $250k for days on the roster @ 60, 90, 120, 150 days. ($2m)

Add $250k if he gets 225 plate appearances. Then another $250k for every 25 more PA up to 500. Yep, that could add $3m... ($5m)

He also has another million based on awards ($50k for All-Star, $50K form MVP, $100k for World Series, etc....)

If he is very lucky, he could earn up to $6 million.

That $6 million figure is the max value of Sizemore's deal. He could earn as little as $750,000. Ellsubury, on the other hand, earns $9 million for sure, though it's not entirely certain that he stays healthy all year. Potential upside on this deal is huge for the BoSox. :suds:

LOL...this potato chip won't last 3 months

Why do I get the feeling that if he were on the Cardinals, this would be your view:

'Sizemore's back and hungrier than ever. He's motivated to stay healthy and I expect big things from him.'
