I say no. He still has potential to be a 20G scorer. However, one more season of getting bated into stupid penalties, and I'm done. He has some natural skill, but unless he's put in a situation where he knows he can be offensive, he's just going to run around hitting people and get no minutes.

For me it's a no, with Rolston gone now we shouldn't have to dump much more $ if any to sign Parise... so why move him

Our lack of physicallity up front makes me say keep him. If we're going to trade a winger I'd rather it be Zubrus. Keep in mind Clarkson and the Swedes was arguably our best line last year. If he can keep a level head and play to his skill set he is a very good player.

ther fact that a flyers fan "recon" seems awful intent on wanting to see clarkson out of a devils jersey speaks volumes. The guy has heart always shows up is young can fight and score. If you want a good view on the value of david clarkson read the sharks nj thread on the sharks board

I really like Clarky too, BUT like I said above. HE HAS TO STOP TAKING PENALTIES. Also, he's basically a top two line RW on this team. I guess he'll be competing with Zubrus, Palmieri, and Tedenby for those spots.

The majority of Clarksons penalty minutes were fighting majors to be fair Zubrus leads the team in minor penalties resulting in power plays.Tallinder and volchenkov also had more penalties than Clarky.IMO Clarkson is far more of A consistant player than Zubrus and has much more potential and value to the team.

all joking aside zubrus had 23 minor penalties to clarksons 18 and to be honest if we are talking about cutting payroll i think it would make far more sense to dump salvadore. For one thing there is no guarantee he will be the same concussions are a very tricky area and my other reason is we are over stocked on defensemen

He plays way less minutes than those guys though.

The fighting majors factor into his loss of ice time as well and he carried the load last year for us in that department. He is the best fighter we have and one of the few players we have that effectively protects his teammates. He also scored 12 goals to zubrus"s 13 with around three minutes less ice time per game and he wasn't playing on a line with kovy or elias to boost his stats

I voted yes on accident. I read the title, "Is trading Clarkson now a bad idea?" But that was the opposite of the poll question. In any case, there are quite a few guys that have to go before I get rid of Clarkson. He can do a lot of different things for this team.

For what he gets paid he has to have 15g this year. He never has taken the next step

I agree with this. Clarkson was arguably my biggest disappointment last year as I expected him to really elevate his game to the next level and become a top 6 winger. When he is on his game he is perfectly capable of being a 2nd line player, 20+ goal scorer. But there were too many games where he was looking more for a fight and less to make the play. Curious to see if he is matched up with Tedenby and JJ again this year.

Let's hope he can keep this up. 2 goals tonight puts him up to 9 on the season. His +/- is still pretty awful, BUT he's been good on the PP. He still needs to cut a few penalties. He's taken 21 of his 50 PIMs all came from the first game of the season. Frankly, the less he's in the penalty box the better especially for fighting.
