I can't think of a more shocking trade than this. Not even the slightest peep that either guy was getting moved much less for each other. This might even be the most shocking trade in sports, not just the NBA.

Superstars in their prime don’t get traded unless they are asking their way out.
If the Mavs GM is really concerned about Luka’s poor conditioning and his bad knees then I understand trying to get something back if Luka isn’t the answer.

It's still absurd. Even with poor conditioning and bad knees his composite the last two season is 31/9/9. And he is 25. And its not like his game is going to deteriorate when he loses a step in a few year. His old man game will play another decade or more at this level, easily

Shop around and take your time. I’m sure there are 29 other teams interested.

I can't think of a more shocking trade than this one. It doesn't make sense. I mean the Lakers aren't better after it given the fact that they obviously have the SF slot covered before the trade.

The thing is we as fans never know how bad things truly are, not saying his knees are gonna be as bad as Greg Oden‘s but it’s certainly possible that these are gonna bother him the rest of his career for however long that is. We’ve seen what injuries have done to people like Embiid or Derrick Rose and Luka may be headed in that direction for all we knowz

He's 25. If it's anything it's about how big of a pain in the ass he is to deal with. I just don't see how this move is a win for the Lakers given they're obviously ok at the position in 2025. I mean their defense is going to go down the toilet with this new lineup.

Luka must be absolutely toxic in the locker room. I mean there's no other explanation for this beyond that. Sounds like the Lakers are looking to move forward beyond LeBron because this certainly doesn't make them better.

Weird that you have a generational talent like Luka and you look at the trade and I'd say the Mavs won it.

For this year, possibly. Beyond? Kyrie could opt out and will be 33. It certainly shortens Dallas' window and just blew the Lakers window wide open. No worries about that anchor star beyond Lebron now.

I don't see Kyrie going anywhere after this. I'm sure they're telling him 'you're the man' and 'we got AD for you' right now. At the end of the day Kyrie is still Kyrie and AD is still AD and having them together makes a lot of sense as far as running the offense vs two guys who are subtraction by addition. But the Lakers get what they always want which is a superstar to be the face of the franchise. I'd say it's stupid but you've guys won a vault full of trophies with that model. But this guy needs work. I think he's awesome but I don't think he's much better at 25 than he was at like 17. Too bad that there isn't a guy like Jerry West to set him straight for the Lakers to throw at him.
