Is it me or do these games take even longer now?

That Tampa game started at 640 last night. When did it end? I guess it could be because of the lockout they gave the teams a couple extra spots on the roster so they are running through a million pitchers......

It does feel like there's even more bullpen usage, but I think some of that is because starters are usually held to lower pitch counts at the beginning of the season.

There is always a pitching change, even in situations where there is no reason.

A good portion of the teams would probably do better if they let their starters get some complete games more often. Heck, now they don't even have to bat in both leagues...now that really sucks.

Don't tell them to improve the game or they'll fuck it up like the NHL with their shootouts.

You would think you'd want a rested bullpen come postseason... Or at least take the leash off your starters in the playoffs.

Or at least condition pitchers to be multi-inning relievers.

Well, they always had long relief pitchers for starters who were blown out in the first couple of innings. Most of the long-relief pitchers were also spot starters for double headers or a starter missing from the rotation. I have to wonder if any pitchers these days know how to get out of a jam without being pulled.

Lowest OPS since 1972. Lowest batting average of all-time. 2nd lowest OBP outside of the deadball era/1800s. Not only are home runs are way down (0.88, lowest since 2014, and only the fifth time it's been below 1.00 since 1994), but there's also fewer doubles and triples. Doubles are at their lowest rate since 1992 and there's fewer triples than ever. Strikeouts are high, but the league rate is lower than it was in 2019-21.

Small ball is back! Seriously though, now that we're seeing it it seems to be exposing some really terrible defense this year. I don't know if the defense is actually worse or if it is just harder to hide it when there's no home runs. I watched the end of a game between Minnesota and Detroit the other night that had the stupidest ending I've ever seen. I can't even explain it. All I can say is Sano should have played the lottery after the game.

Nothing has ruined the gm more than launch angle imo. I wouldn’t be against it

The play was drawn up just like that.
Seriously, that was one of the most bizarre endings I've ever seen to a game. The only one that is stranger to me is one I saw in the minors where a catcher threw a bunted ball into the right field corner and the right fielder threw it into the stands between home and 3rd on the fly trying to get the ball back in.

I was in a beer game with lots of people who didn't know the rules and didn't know how to hit, field or run bases. We got out a bases loaded nobody out situation with a third to left to second triple play.
