I said from jump, Haslett not Shanahan should have been fired. But once you fired Mike and Kyle, it was virtual suicide to then fire Haslett too. So now you got to live with the move. Now in order to not waste another season, you got to give Haslett not only the freedom to run the defense, but the players to make it work.
Shanahan sealed his fate by getting someone to print those stories about him considering quitting a while ago (or at least not denying any of it) & by benching RG3 for the last three games. All were perceived to be ways of undermining Snyder. When you go after the boss your fate is pretty much sealed & it should be that way (regardless of how you feel about the owner). In effect - Shanahan got himself fired.
