Is anyone excited about the bowl game?

I get the vibe everyone is pretty much thinking South Carolina is going to roll us and we're back in the Callaclown era...

They present some serious problems for us on both sides of the ball.

Their offensive style is exactly what we do poorly against. Their qb can run well and throw on the run very well. They like to roll him out a lot. They also like to run the ball right up the gut.

On defense they have gobs of speed, and getting outside (on the perimeter) is going to be extremely difficult, so Beck is going to have to think up some other ways to move the ball. They might be vulnerable to the power run game and PA off of that to Reed as their LB's are the weak part of their defense.

Reports are that the practices since the Iowa game have been pretty hardcore.............not like the coaches are making them hardcore, but rather the players are gettin' pretty chippy.

Couple of dadburn fights today. I know that sounds bad, but that is seriously a good sign. These guys are gettin' after it late in the year. Usually those fights always happen at the start of the year.

I will be upset, because I feel like with this much time to prepare, we should be able to compete with this team..............and not only compete, but win the game.

I will not be upset if we compete and end up on the losing end of this one.............but I will be pissed if we put on a performance like the other 3 games we lost this year.

yep fighting is always a sign of extremely competitive practices.

I'm really glad to hear they're still busting their asses.

I can't get excited because this is a game we are supposed to lose and we lost games we were supposed to win.

As JJM said if we compete and lose I will not be upset because I am not letting myself hope for anymore.

If we dont compete? Well, been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.

But look at how we line up. USCe Total defense #4 in country, Nebraska a pitiful #36.
We have an edge on offense (ranked 60th, bottom half) but not by much. We are averaging 390 ypg compared to their 375.

When you go onto consider their qb is the type that we have fell flat on our face against this year I really have a hard time getting excited.

I don't think having all this time gives us an edge either. Spurrier has just as much time and has more motivation to win then our coaches (and likely more ability to motivate).

I will be watching and I hope I am wrong but I am not getting excited this year.

I hope so. The one thing I wonder about is Carl leaving immediately instead of waiting for the bowl. I know we will be fine with Bo (and probably better) but it makes me wonder about what rumors can get going about his immediate departure.

J/K kinda, seriously I thought it odd. I know he needs to get his staff together and get recruiting but it is unusual to leave on good terms before a major bowl game. I have wondered if there was tension or dissent between him and Bo and that may have worked it's way further down the ranks.

If so we may see a different defense in the bowl.
